It's just fire, the edo will keep walking. Sasuke has to focus his vision on the fire for it to burn at max capacity and melt the edo ( at which point it will regenerate ).

The flames will burn for days, and the edos can't regenerate because the paper slips will continue to burn until there's nothing left. It will turn the Edo bodies to nothing. Easier then a sealing jutsu.
