Hey guys.

So, I've recently encountered multiple situation where people apply or imply racism in the wrong way. It's happening far too often and I find it sad that it's the go-to word in almost any interaction that's negative. The worst part about it is that people tend to use racism as a gateway to other words. I heard someone say "***-based racism" the other day, and I almost slapped someone because of it.

The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

That is racism. It's been defined and will always be defined as such. A white man shooting a black man is not racism. A middle-eastern resident getting on a plane to New York is not racism. An Asian resident eating rice is not racism. A man only dating his race is not racism.

What are your thoughts on this? Is racism largely misunderstood in our generation?

Because this generation is taught that everything is sexist and racist if you look at it hard enough.

prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.
Another definition.

Lots of people are pretty stupid that's why. For example some frequently use words the wrong way. Like the word troll people on this site use that word wrong a LOT!

Because modern society is being oversensitive to things. Things like racism and sexism aren't racism and sexism now.

"I think a girl would like a chick flick more than a guy." Oh, that's sexist. Not at all.
"I don't like that guy (who could be black)." Oh, that's racist. No, I dislike white people too. Shut your face.

Things are taken way out of line because people are idiots. Bottom line.

Yeah, there are some pretty moronic individuals out there who think that stereotypes automatically equate to racism. Because here in the U.S., people love being part of a protected class. People also love feeling like they're an underdog in society. Easiest way to do so is to perceive and denounce anything white people do as racist. Low IQ tactics for sure.

> True.

Me personally, I think that people take way to many situations out of context and make them racist without thinking.

That sums up the internet. o_O

I haven't seen a place so ignorant of the words "Sexism" and "Racism" in my life,
you can look up any 'social justice' blog on there
and you should be able to see why most people laugh and hate that site.

Lmao what. Using big words in a definition makes it invalid because it does not support your claim in the slightest? Lol..

You don't think prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism against someone because of the color of their skin is racism?

Tumblr is on its own level of stupidity, believe it or not.
> I guess I'll block myself from it for my own good.

> Kid, I rarely insight an argument on a website, and clearly this is a case where my philosophy still stands. Come back to me when you can read and interpret what someone says and respect an opinion rather than blatantly insulting it because you lack a build of self-respect.
