[Discussion] One Piece Anime quality

From a business standpoint it doesn't really make much sense to give OP amazing animation & art each week consistently. OP will always attract a lot of views (regardless of animation/art) and it's usually in the top 10 anime ratings weekly from what I've heard, so it's better for Toei to focus their time & effort with lesser known series. You also have to consider how expensive it is to animate a single episode AND OP isn't the only thing Toei is working on. Have you seen sailor moon crystal? The animation & art is amazing. I get what you mean, Toei needs to put in a bit more effort into making the episodes but that doesn't mean it has to be amazing. I was surprised at how good the animation/art was for this week's ep. IMO if they keep up the animation quality from FI, I'm fine. Pacing is the biggest issue with the OP anime, it can ruin a lot of moments in the manga. If they're worried of losing viewers by having fillers then I would suggest them to create the arcs for the cover story since they do have ties with the OP manga.

Toei is good when they have to try, i.e. making movies. Both film Z & strong world had amazing animation & art. They're the best animated movies I've seen, even better than HxH's movies.

I think the main problem OP fans have with the anime now isn't the quality, but the pacing. It's taking away the excitement of OP. Maybe it's only from my perspective, I caught up to the anime during F.I arc, I'd been watching it without waiting a whole week, so maybe the weekly waiting period is the cause.

Regardless, the animation shouldn't be the main reason for watching a show anyway =p same debate with graphics in games. They're good, but the if the good quality of the animation or the graphics of the game are the only aspects your looking at, then you're not really into the story.

Same here, even though it's slow I still watch it lol just in case I miss something good.

The biggest problem is because Toei rotates the staff for the show weekly. And that is the reason for the inconsistency and not because they would not have the money for it.

Oh yeah true, I forgot about that. Do you know any of the good animation directors/staff members names because somehow people just know if next week's ep. is going to be good or not by seeing who's the director lol.

Overall, the anime is garbage compared to the manga. Toei is doing a terrible job, much worse than the quality they COULD be putting out, simply because they know their viewers will watch it anyways out of love for the story.

True, I guess we can only hope for a Dressrosa arc special but that won't come out for ages and it'll be too fast-paced for our liking.

A perfect example of fillers ruining the show is the marine ford arc.
My god that war lasted almost a year! With only 5min of new animation every single episode.
Those were dark times.

To be honest id rather have an entire filler month and then continue on with the story than fillers ruining the actual main plot.

I'm not a fan of the anime, but I still think the art and animation are better than the first seasons of the series. We're just hungry for something better, that's all. I get why people are complaining, though.

lol I think toei is scared to take a 1-2 week break and you're asking for a 1 year break? They'll never do anything to fix the pacing, maybe for the final arc of OP they will but for now it's a no.

I can see them animating the final arc for 2 years. Each episode will be someone breathing or changing their direction

I've read some of it,and can easily come to the conclusion that anime>manga.They both have their charms but overall the anime is better for me.Do you like the manga more? If so,why?

Oh yeah, another pet peeve of mine is that the anime can't get Luffy's second gear right (post-TS). He doesn't go full body G2, over the TS he got better control over it.
