Why did Sakura become a ninja ?

Re-watching the first ten episodes of the series and I just noticed something that took me years to do so, but the question now arises.

"Why did Sakura become a shinobi ?"

Naruto and Sasuke both have their reasons at the time, one is to be acknowledged by the very same village that shunned for him so many years, and the other's is to one day be strong to avenge his clan by killing the murderer who committed the heinous act. But Sakura's reason for doing so was quite never explained, care to fill me in on the details ? :'(

Good question. It's a job where you risk death daily. Perhaps one of her parents were at one point. A related question: why would non-shinobi families be living in Konoha at all?

There was no reason for her to become a ninja. She never even cared about being one or having any goals of being stronger. Her only motivation for taking the exams and becoming a ninja was to be with Sasuke.

She would have been better off working at a bar and meeting guys that looked good looking to her.
