I would start at the beginning, because the anime leaves out quite a bit and it will help you understand the characters better(especially Tatsuya) and it will help you understand the science behind the magic better as well.



The anime covers volumes 1,2,3,4,6, and 7. 5 was skipped because its a sequence of short stories. There are currently 14 volumes out, the 14th is currently being translated, while the 15th volume is set to release in Japan on Jan 10th.

So they skipped a lot of important stuff or just little stuff that doesn't need to be addressed?

They cover most of the important stuff in the anime, however:

-They skip out on a lot of Tatsuya's inner monologues, which gives you a better insight about his personality and his thought process(they also take out a many other characters monologues as well.)

-They also skip out on a lot of explanations about the science of magic.

-They cut out a lot of character interactions.

-They also added and changed up some of the content in LN and mixed in content with the manga.
