Kinnikuman.

I highly recommend you read this! Partly because I love it, but also because I'm astounded by how highly underrated and unheard of this Manga is (outside of Japan).

So: basically, if you love fights, overmanly manliness, and overrexaggeration on every page (basically, Shounen fan), then you will LOVE this Manga.

First published in 1979, spanning all the way to 1987, this Manga has been able to gain its own calender day in Japan due to how influential it is. Many famous Manga pay tribute to this, and DBZ's plot is basically a poorly written rip-off of Kinnikuman (sorry guys, but it's true.)

Some tributes (just to name a few) :
Fist of the North Star was inspired by one of the main characters
There is a mountain with faces on it (NARDO wasn't the first!)
Kinnikuman is a prince of a foreign planet, sent to earth as a baby by pod (DBZ lel)
The first ever transformers appeared in Kinnikuman, not Transformers.

This was like, one of the baddest shows when I was a kid.
This + Batman of the Future + Pokemon + DBZ + Beyblade + Yu Gi Oh, no other cartoons were needed.

I remember watching it when i was a kid. Actually my brother was watching and i was secretly watching it becuz girls should not be watching those esp. old sis girls U_U.

Its name was ultimate muscle i think. The chess dude had a dope design and fight were cool.

Yep. However they weren't as influential and didn't follow the formulaic pattern we see today: Defeat enemy -> stronger one comes along -> Defeat enemy etc. etc.

And judging by the mass of references towards it; you can see why I called it the 'Forefather', as it's clearly inspired a lot of famous Mangaka today (to the point where they pay tribute within their projects).
