[Discussion] Going to pick up One Piece for the 2nd time

After becoming tolerant of the character proportions and such I decided to read one piece again.


I stopped reading after they reached the desert, probably going to just start from the beginning.



Any advice on reading it?

Like when it's really good so I have something to look forward to.

OT: That was Alabasta, the arc you stoped. I'd say Water 7 is an amazing arc to look forward too. And skypiea.

The desert is where it starts to get good. Gives you an idea in Oda's idea of war and just how twisted some pirates can be. It's also an arc where the whole crew has moments to shine and reminds you why Luffy is someone to believe in. Gets better a few arcs after, many people love the Water 7 and Enies Lobby Arc and that's usually where readers get captivated if not already. If you makes it there and still don't like it, then it is what it is.

PS: I used to not want to check out OP because of the art but after having it grow on me, I really admire Oda's art more than some mangakas. It's so unique, you can't help but see the talent in it IMO.

I think I stopped reading because of the art but mostly because I couldn't find that character that clicked and made me want to keep reading.

i didn't like skypiea... im pretty sure I skipped quite a few episodes that arc.

Water 7, Sabody, and quite afew arcs after are good.

I would recommend not watching the anime. and read the manga. because the anime gets drawn out as shit. although there are definitely some arcs u should see animated like marineford,waterseven etc

Just go in with an open mind.

Don't try to judge it too early or compare it to other series which everyone does.
Read it for what it is meant to do. Entertain.

But if you didn't think much with the Arlong Arc, and stopped in the Alabasta Arc, OP might not be for you. It gets good around Arlong, and becomes better around Alabasta. Of course it becomes simply amazing at Water 7 and Enies Lobby arcs, and it is a masterpiece at Marineford.

For me the best one was the war. Shit was badass, unlike the garbage kishi drew. Water7 and Ennies Lobby are great as well. The current arc has the potential to surpass marineford. It's been amazing so far.

Yeah, One Piece introduces a lot of characters. They don't just go away either. I say pay more attention to the story and you'll start loving the characters eventually. Some arcs like the Foxy one (it's right before Water 7) seem silly at first but they're meant to be humorous and I think that's so you can get a better feel for the characters too. Anyways, you'll see for yourself. The anime is fine but once you read the manga, you'll realize some parts are dragged out, especially recently. Just make sure you avoid those fillers.

Alabasta was alright felt a tad dragged but heats back up when conflict comes
SKypiea >.< i disliked the arc had a cool few moments but it also showed how much the One Piece world have to offer
Water 7 is a good arc and Enies Lobby best fights in OP

Now Impel Down Arc and MarineFord Arcs will most likely be your fav in an instant and Oda himself said it sucks compared to what he has in the Future which some say are the best hand downs

No problem, and the arcs I mentioned are around the corner. Not hundreds of episodes away like extremely good arcs like sabaody archieipego, thriller bark, marineford and so on. Law the character in my avi appears in sabaody archieipego.

I agree but I don't want him waiting hundreds of eps since he's still in alabasta. I loved those arcs the most though.
