-spoiler alert-
This movie came out a little while ago so i think there are decent amount of people who viewed it.
I personally liked it a lot, after reading Joe Haldeman's "Forever War" (pretty good book which features an intergalactic war and effects of relativity on a person through a soldier who goes to said war several times in different timelines, author was a soldier in Vietnam so check it out if you like sci-fci and battle in fiction) i started thinking about what would be the situation of humans who live through way different amount of time due to relativity? Since we are pretty much on earth we can not know that other than deductions. Anyway i was curious about and this movie came out to be a nice surprise. Also having faith in things you do and people you love was a strong theme which i loved.
Moving on there are few things which made little sense (prolly for moving the plot) and i want to point them out cuz why not.
1) Dr Cooper being dat astronot.
This guy is appearantly is special since he is the only astronot with some experience out of a box. So...he just busts through NASA's base and they offer him the job; then he goes in matter of days? Pretty sure NASA would know about this guy instead of sending him to space like you would find a sober friend to drive on a drunk night out.
2) No sensory devices in ship while you can go through solar system?
Miller's planet. The Dr. Astronouts jump out of ship and look around cuz those big things look like teh mountains. There must be a simple device (like sonar or radar) who can send waves (like sound) to estimate shape of topography around. I would dig that idea if i jump on a ****in planet no one knows one day. It would be pretty fast, simple and practical. But loss of some good years were needed cuz plot but same could happen in Dr. MannDouche's planet with some tweaks.
3) I luv Edmunds so lets go next to him you guys!
Yeah Brand was right i know that. And i think her train of thought was not outright unprofessional. But she conveyed them so unprofessionally that no one would be convinced. The thing is as stated before none of the people who went those planets had emotional attachments. So it is to be expected that these guys may can very well only live for saving their own bum (as per Dr. MannDouche). But Edmunds had an attachment (i think it was mutual or atleast he have shown care) so the possibility of him bullshitting through analysis was much lower. If there is a possibility that people you love may come to middle of nowhere you are, i think you would be tad honest about aspects of that place atleast compared to a guy who has little to no attachments. Sooo...instead of saying something which makes rational sense she says "love is the power and i am excited to see him".
That's it folks, again i really liked the movie but these things were kinda pulling such high level production down. Feel free to disagree, point out mistakes or agree.
