I'm not sure if this has been brought up but it just randomly hit me while watching some Naruto videos. Thinking back on this I came to the realization that most of the clans in Naruto aren't(possibly) pure breeds, so what's the point in having clans at all?
Naruto is an Uzumaki but isn't purely one, he's got Namikaze in him too(fairly obvious one). What about the other clans though? Clans like the Nara, Akimichi, Aburame and so on? There is a good chance that kids in those families aren't pure breeds either, such as Naruto himself. From what I recall, we don't know whether their clan "members" consist of them strictly marrying within that clan right? I always figured that they some what did in order to keep their clans consist and pure such as the Uchiha & Hyuuga(Ex: Sasuke's parents). This is in order to keep specific aspects in their respective clan intact such as the Sharingan or the Byakugan but what excuse do the other clans like the Nara clan have for marrying within their clan?(if they do that is)
Is this a possible reason why other clans would marry within the family, to preserve something that's only valid within that clan or does it straight up not matter? In the last manga chapter(#700) we see a lot of pairs married with children of their own but it's a lot of mixed bunches(Ex: Shikamaru's & Temari's kid and Choji's & Karui's kid).
Wouldn't mixing like this confirm that there isn't a point of having a clan in the first place? Wasn't the point of the clan to preserve and keep intact specific things and now they don't care much about it since they're at a time of "peace"?
I want to honestly know what you think about this because I sure am curious to know what your thoughts about it are. Maybe I'm missing something and you can enlighten me about it
Also sorry if I worded it poorly. I couldn't really find the correct words to truly express how I wanted interpret this.
