I agree that Shikamaru is smarter but Neji is smart himself and should be able to hold his ground. Most of the former Konohagakure Genin became Chuunin over the timeskip while Neji was the only one to become a Jounin. Shikamaru is still a Chuunin and Neji is a Jounin so that and a few other factors make me believe that Neji has potential in a fight against Shikamaru and wouldn't flat out lose.​

it would have to be a taijutsu fight basically since neji doesnt use any ninjutsu(he might have one), and when he comes near,shika will use his shadows. the byakugan isnt much usefull in a battle like this and i m pretty sure they will find they way to read their moves .

not true at all. in order for shikamaru to use the shadows he can not move until a connection is made. simple opening that im more than positive neji would pick up on.

neji solution: jump + air palm to stationary shikamaru.

Exactly. A perfect opinion. Shikamaru would have to struggle for a while and possibly take some damage before he manages to get Neji. In this situation, the Jyuuken is useless against Shika.

A perfectly wrong opinion. Becoming a Jounin does no auto mean you can defeat anyone who isn't Jounin. A perfect example would be Shika [ Chuunin ] defeating Hidan [ S-Class, which is higher than Jounin ]

I dont think so , we hav seen shikamaru's growth with time skip in hidan battle arc , but we haven't seen Neji's growth .. He became a jounin for sumthing .. i know shikamaru is also jounin rank ( he didn't get it coz he is too lazy ) .. and I also think that Neji's tech WILL work against shika ..

How ? Each time he comes near to use the Jyuuken, he runs the risk of being caught by Kagemane.
Its a no win situation for Neji. No Jyuuken.

Exactly.
So until we know new tech.s we have to go along with the old ones that we do know.

Therefore, the only long range Neji knows is Air Palm. And it can't kill a person, merely knock him back. Ergo, Neji loses.
