Atlus should make a Persona MMO like Elder Scroll did
You would be able to choose your arcana and you'd be able to use personas of that arcana
I think it'd be cool
They made a Shin Megami Tensei MMO (Persona parent series), and it was actually released in NA, but now you can only play it in Japanese.

A Persona version would be cool, if done right. But I find that the story, characters, etc is what makes Persona what it is, so making an MMO kind of strips it of those things, to a certain extent.

Yeah, I kinda agree in that point, but I think if Atlus put work in it, it will be good

4 on 4, every man for himself. Who wins? Who gets KO'd first?

Scenario 1: Minato doesn't have Armageddon.
Scenario 2: He does have it.

I'd totally do this if I cared about the protagonists but I hate Souji and Minato is boring. :|

On a side-note: THISSSSSSSSS!!!!!

WAITED SO LONG. It's the badass song used in the fight between Souji and me.
Lyrics:
no no no no “yes yes yes yes”
no no no no “yes yes yes yes”

ain’t no such thing as trust nor justice
so disgusting y’all ass kissers
y’all die spell curse came from hell

“past is what you don’t wanna dwell”
it’s all BS it’s all garbage
“I say neither, it’s vice versa”

lost in himself
maze he has made

“just trying to reach out reach out
ain’t those bluffing gonna get you out”

hmm… nothing but middle finger
I hate talking to ignorants, stop the whimpers

“misunderstanding man that’s too much overreacting
better go retract that
statements on it, you can’t own it”

I am flawless

“more like thoughtless”

chasing stars a far (so so far)
overlooks his one path (dark dark night)
where is light when needed he didn’t get it
enough for a man to lose sight for a frail pride

so lost in the starless night
sun don’t rise
on the blinded mind
around and around there goes now
waiting for another falling
let there be stars to guide him the way
in this poor night

so numb he’s become so numb
ways of life
so exhausted
he will not be who he’s not
so sick of lies over lies but
can’t tell what is a lie anymore
he’s going so numb

your crew loves that gibberish
to me that’s illiterate
makes me want to obliterate it

“you just love being bitter-y? don’t ya
I am thinking you just might be
you just like me I’m just lucky
just took it wrongfully and it just
might not be entirely your fault”

just let it go
open the door

no words can mean anything at this point we must battle

“that’s just you and that’s how you mishandle things mishandle handle now!”

now you’re telling me what to do?
let me tell you who rule.

“come on this ain’t nothing to rule over this matter brother
you and I we ain’t so different
I guess I had more blessing without it you got belligerent
but I totally understand glass was half full for mine.”

and it looked half empty for me

maybe that [one glass] made the path we took who knows?

chasing stars a far (so so far)
overlooks his one path (dark dark night)
he who knows not and knows not then he knows not…
but he could just easily be
oh anyone

so lost in the starless night
where’s the love?
when one needs it?
around and around there goes now
waiting for another falling
let there be stars to guide him the way
in this poor night

so numb he’s become so numb
ways of life
so exhausted
he will not be who he’s not
so sick of lies over lies but
can’t tell what is a lie anymore
he’s going so numb

just let it go
maze he has made
Edit:
Apparently, the "robot voice" for Lotus Juice (the rapper) is meant to be sung from Adachi's perspective while his normal voice for lyrics is meant to be as Souji. It's hella amazing. I don't think I've liked a song ever so much and I rarely listen to songs where there are lyrics/singers. (Uber soundtrack junkie)

That's fine, because Tatsuya negs in both scenarios

Wow, now that's an impressive song. The lyrics fit both Yu and Adachi pretty well. Combine that with some signature rhyming from LJ, and you have a classic

I hope Lotus Juice gets featured on the P5 soundtrack, he's pretty good.

Wow, that really is an awesome song, featuring both perspectives
And

Didn't you guys say some pages before that Minato is top 1?

It's about time I make a comeback in my own FC. I've been far too inactive.

Hmm, interesting...

I assume you enjoyed it, but do you think a Persona MMO would work, based on your experience with it?
Well, the demon summoning mechanic was greatly executed, but the rest of the game was somewhat bad. It could only be considered fun if you play with other people, hence why it's called an ''MMO'', I guess. Not every MMORPG has to be that way, though.

Keep in mind that Atlus had absolutely nothing to do with that game. Atlus eventually claimed the publishing rights to it and ended up shutting down all servers bar the Japanese ones.

In terms of gameplay mechanics, it would definitely work. Shin Megami Tensei naturally works on the principle of '''demon negotiation'', so I'm not so sure how they would incorperate the Persona formula into that, but there are definitely chances of such a system succeeding.

Story is always subjective, so I can't properly judge whether this will work out. Shin Megami Tensei Imagine Online simply followed the basic principle of SMT with the whole Law vs Chaos thing. You could make certain choices in the game which would shift your alignment from Neutral to Chaos to Law etc. That ended up changing your capabilites with certain demons. I was completely chaotic, so my compatibility with chaotic demons rose. I guess that's more of a gameplay mechanic, but still. The exact same formula could be used with the Arcana.

One could say that the theme of ''bonds'' throughout the Persona series would work really well in an MMO, though. It sounds extremely logical when you think about it. MMO's are games which encourage socializing and grouping up, so they could make it work, if they put effort into it.

The micro-transactions really bothered me, though. That's the problem with ''Free to Play'' MMO games. Players who pay will always have the advantage. Although I'm also not really a fan of monthly subscriptions. That's what got me into Guild Wars 2. A single-term payment in order to create an account/buy the game and everything else worked amazingly. There was an in-game shop, but it was only for esthetic purposes.

So, yes, a Persona MMORPG could work. All they would have to do is tweak the already working mechanics of SMT Imagine Online a little and you'd already have a half-decent game. The game would have to have some sort of payment, but not a forced commitment such as a monthly subscription, and if Atlus could give a creative twist to the concept of MMO's in combination with the Arcana/Bonds it might just work out greatly. The chances of Atlus ever doing this are close to zero, though. Unless Persona becomes majorly mainstream to the point it will turn into the new Final Fantasy.

Scenario 1: Minato doesn't have Armageddon.
Scenario 2: He does have it.
That's a little pointless, right? Minato takes both scenarios with utmost ease. Igor guided both the Persona 1 and Persona 2 cast yet was fanboying over Minato when he awakened the Universe.

''Nothing is outside of the realm of possibility for you now'' - Igor speaking to Minato

I've waited for the release of this OST for so long, but now it's even more amazing. The lyrics fit together greatly. Especially the part that Magatsu quoted:

I guess I'll have to update my soundtrack list...

I have never ever watched persona. The art looks beautiful though
Well, you could always watch the original animations/movies if you are interested. They don't have the same ''feeling'' as the games do, but they are still quite an experience.

Welcome back
I see, so a Persona MMO would be possible, I thought of choosing a arcana and being able to acess a persona or personas of that arcana
It would be honestly a game I would buy, I can't spend much in games, hence why I don't play WoW
One question, how strong is Minato with the universe arcana?

Thanks.

It would have to be quite extensive considering there are over twenty arcana. The MMORPG I was referring to only had to worry about three things; Law, Neutral and Chaos. It would take a tremendous amount of work, but it is a possibility, no doubt.

How strong is Minato? It's a little hard to measure considering there is no real indication of how strong people are in Persona. Although based on portrayal and feats he's basically omnipotent.

Oh, so it's a game. Which gaming platform can you play it on?
Persona 1 and 2 are available for the Playstation 1 and the remakes can be played on the PSP. They aren't that good of a starting point for Persona if you are new, though. They are quite old and could be compared to Final Fantasy 1 through 4. Some might consider them to be good, but it's best to keep your focus on the more recent entries.

Persona 3 and 4 are available for the Playstation 2. They are considered to be the greatest of the series, although Persona 2 can be quite good if you can stand the old design. Persona 3 gained a re-make for the PSP called Persona 3 Portable, while Persona 4 got a re-make for the PSVita called Persona 4 Golden. Both Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden are the superior versions.

Persona 3 and Persona 4 have been listed at or near the top of several "RPGs of the Decade" lists. In RPGFan's "Top 20 RPGs of the Past Decade" list, Persona 4 was ranked at fourth place, while Persona 3 was ranked in second place behind Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga. In RPGamer's "Top RPGs of the Decade" list, Persona 3 was ranked at first place.
The games barely have any correlation with each other so you can play any of them in any order. Only the most recent titles such as Persona 4 Arena (PS3 and XBOX 360), Persona 4 Ultimax (Same as the latter) and Persona Q (3DS) share characters from both Persona 3 and Persona 4 and kind of continue the story onwards. They are basically fanservice games to fill the gap until the release of Persona 5.

So, TL;DR:

Playstation 1 and 2, PSP and PSVita, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Persona 5 will be available for both the Playstation 3 and 4 next year. You can play them in any order except for the more recent titles, that being ''Arena'', ''Ultimax'' and ''Q''. There is also a...dancing rhythm game revolving around Persona characters called Dancing All Night, but let's just pretend that game doesn't exist.

Persona 3 and Persona 4 have gotten so damn popular that they've gained 22 forms of media in the past 6 years. All spin-offs, remakes, manga, movies, animated series and sequels.

Persona 3 and Persona 4 have gotten so damn popular that they've gained 22 forms of media in the past 6 years. All spin-offs, remakes, manga, movies, animated series and sequels.
So he is as strong as Philemon?

Omg, so many posts x.x

I have to finish an essay, so I'll reply to everyone properly tomorrow~
I was listening to some music and wasn't really paying attention to how much I was actually typing...

But alright, good luck.

Hype-wise, Minato should have the ability to create and erase all existance. That puts Minato...far above Philemon.

Well, it's not like it was ever said/confirmed or anything. It's just my interpretation from Igor's quotes. Here are some of them:

''Right now, you may be able to defeat that which cannot be defeated''. Meaning Minato can do the impossible.

''You have the power to bring about a new beginning, or the ultimate end''. Meaning Minato is basically in control of fate itself

''Nothing is outside the realm of possibility for you now'' Once again, meaning Minato can do literally anything.

I can't resist chiming in here, so:

Personally, I'm not so certain about Minato's destructive power. Igor's quotes do in fact suggest a nigh-omnipotent level of destructive capability, but it's also possible that he's speaking metaphorically (as Minato learnt the true meaning of life and rose to a higher plane of existance).

But in terms of durability, the guy resisted death itself (not an embodiment or a watered-down version or anything like that, literally death) on sheer willpower, something that seemingly defies the laws of existance.

So, to sum it up, he's really, really, really powerful. The only other Persona character who has crazy feats like that is Tatsuya (though they're not as insane as Minato's).
