It's just the first of 3 chapters, so it's nothing more than an introduction. I'm really curious about how the relationship between Toph en her father/parents will progress. It's one of those things that was left unanswered in the animated series because it wasn't directly relevant to the plot as a whole, but leaves quite a hole in Toph's character development.

I think it's also obvious that Yanchen appeared not to keep the festival on itself alive, but to warn them for some kind of impending danger she subdued so many centuries ago and is now returning. The festival was originally made to commemorate this, but the meaning got kinda lost. So the moral lesson of this three chapters is that no so much the traditional rites on itself are important, but the meaning and story behind them.

It's something that actually applies to a lot of stuff these days.

Naturalism vs Industrialism.

Bryke never ceases to amaze me.

Given that new guys name and his hairstyle he has some ties to the sato family. Especially considering the progress of inventions.

Re: The Last Airbender: "The Rift" - Part 1

Well it's only the first part and that guy might be future Mr. Beifong and father of Lin :p
Well, it could be. :)

I love TLA series, and I'm sure it will get better than this, but as for this first part, pretty bad. But I shouldn;t judge a book by its covers. When it's finished, I will surely raise the rating. TLA NEVER DISSAPOINTS!

Re: The Last Airbender: "The Rift" - Part 1-2

Reading the rift, the promise and the search makes me wish they would have continued the avatar series through tv. But alas.
Maybe one day we will get an animation. I still feel they could have released one more book that included all this and the founding the capital city.
