Get all of your partying, drinking, and stupid behavior out of your system your freshman year when the classes are still easy enough to pass when you show up with a hangover.

Get above 2300 on the SAT. If you have like a 3.5 unweighted with double-digit APs and your essays are good enough, top 20 schools are light work.

Why do you need tips if you're not going to college for another 1.5 years?

OT: I'm a freshman in college.
1. Be ready to study. I got by high school with a 3.8 GPA (out of 4.0) without ever studying. Long story short: You can't do that in college.
2. If you go random for your roommate, don't worry about it. You don't have to be best friends with the guy (I'm definitely not with mine). If you can, I'd go with someone you know, though.
3. Apply for all the scholarships you can now, and even as a sophomore, junior, or senior in college.
4. Do well in high school.

I could prolly think up some more, but those aren't bad pieces of advice, I don't think.

It's easy to coast in High School by not studying much (I did in final years and finished with honours and 90+ in pretty much everything). You can't do that in College. Everything comes at you so fast. The time it took in High School to do one unit in a class, you'll already be done three in College and you'll have a mid term exam worth half your grade by the time you finish the third unit. It's relentless and dog eat dog. Be prepared.

Some random tips that might help (and are common sense that you should know):

-Don't procrastinate
-Do your work as soon as you possibly can
-Study for your exams
-If you're bored of reviewing, try to create a study group with friends (but don't continue it if it's counter-productive because you converse instead of learn)
-Save your money
-Speaking of money... please apply for scholarships and grants when you can!
-Don't give in to peer pressure
-Get to know your professors well enough so that they can write you good letters of recommendation (if you want to pursue grad school)
-Don't go to stupid parties
-Pay attention to deadlines. ALL OF THEM. Whether they be the date of an exam, group project, individual project, date to reapply for a program/grant/scholarship, and whatever else.
-Don't be afraid to participate in extracurricular activities. Those are good, you get to know people that way and establish possible life long connections.
-Don't do anything that you think a parental guardian would have a fit over if they found out that you did it.
-When you take notes, you may want to summarize since most profs talk pretty fast and of course they won't wait for one person in the room.
-Don't be afraid to ask questions on a topic. You can ask friends or the professor after the lecture is over, or get a tutor. Or, even go online and search for explanations on the course material.
-Make sure that your grades are decent. Aim for As, but I don't think it'll hurt you if you get some Bs. If you get a scholarship, make sure that your GPA is always within the required range to maintain it.

And much more. I think that you'll be fine and hope that you enjoy pursuing your degree. :win:

Here You go for Tips :)

~Make sure you have a job for a your rent, if you don't start saving now unless your living at home.
~ This isn't high school, do homework when you receive it or it will pile up from your other classes
~Take only 4 or 3 classes. No need to be one of those people who take 6 lol.
~You can be friends with your roommate, but I don't think you will see him much cause I see mine here and there.
~ Make sure you are already ready for the long lines for food or pack your own.
~I'd say convince your parents to make them send you money instead of working so you can focuses on school only.
~Make some friends so your not that kid just bored out of their mind studying all the time. Represents my life now U_U
~ Blah Blah Blah that is all xD

Make sure to sleep well.
Don't procrastinate or you'll feel overwhelmed.
Try to eat balanced meals. It's very tempting to eat whatever junk food is available and that can damage your health.
Find some time to exercise and hang out with your friends. It's not good to accumulate stress.
Use your money wisely.

Some general tips~

-Pay attention in lecture (this is really important!)
-Sleep early, or at least try to, and use an alarm clock, don't rely on someone else to wake you up!
-Attend your classes, don't be late, you may risk missing important info!
-Make friends, and try to choose them carefully, you don't want a friend that may drag you down..
-Be on good terms with your professors!
-Do your homework, don't count on someone else to do it for you!
-Last, but not least, pursue your dream! :)

Good luck, in advance! :p

It looks like I can give you some good advice (I am about to graduate next month by the way, so I have seen it all).

The best advice is to be clear about what you want so that you can choose the most convenient major for you to do what you want to do after college. You will be into it for 3 to 5 years depending on what major you choose, so you need to make sure you pick something you are passionate about and also something that you are really good at. Those two aspects are a must. If you are really bad at it, don't even bother because you won't have the motivation to study or to learn what you need. If are good at it, but don't care about it at all and are not passionate about it, you should also think twice before taking that major because that is what you will be doing from Monday through Friday for a job after college.

So there you have it, my best advice is to find out what is the best major for you from now, the earlier the better, so that you don't waste time switching majors or even going through something that isn't the best route for you.

More advice would be the obvious: study and read the textbooks, and if you don't understand something, never wait until tests are right there, ask the professors and go to their office early if necessary. And, get yourself friends that fit with you. College is looking like high school 2.0 now more than ever, so you really need to be clear about what you need and stick to it. If what you need is to get degree xyz, then that should be your priority. I will graduate faster than most of the people I knew and did great because I knew from day 1 what my goal for being there was, and that was getting the degree that is expected for the job I want and like to do. I didn't have to find out about that in college though, I already knew it even before I started.
