[Discussion] Why didn't Rayleigh save Ace??

Rayleigh was the commander on Roger's crew.. Then why didn't he come to save his captain's son, Ace.. and we all know that he had a great respect for Roger..

cuz.. Shanks had said Rayleigh about Luffy.. Shanks also met Ace, so he might have also said about Ace to rayleigh.
The aim of Roger was to make someone do what he couldn't do. And Luffy had the chance to do it, Ace didn't (as Rayleigh and Sahnks guessed).
Also, Theme of one piece is that : People live on generations by the virtue of their ideals. And Roger lived in Luffy and not in Ace. Luffy was the one and true heir of Roger. Thets why Rayleigh chose luffy over Ace.

It's the same reason as to why didn't Rayleigh wipe out the Navy contingent on Sabaody and allow the Supernova's to walk free?
