It took a while for it to load/buffer for me. So if you intend to watch it, I would advise opening it in another tab letting it do its thing for a while… There are no English subs.
It’s an episode of Special Investigation JUMP Police from 11/07/2014
The blurred portion on the top left is just removing the TV station logo so that the video doesn’t get flagged/taken down.
The board is just pointing out moments in Naruto’s history and the volumes they occurred in: The plot publication, serialization starting, chuunin exam, Sasuke retrieval arc, the first Valley of the End battle, 4th Shinobi World War, etc.
Map of the Narutoverse for scale.
Just a run-through of the ranks of shinobi from Hokage on top to academy students on bottom.
(Interview Highlights): (Begins at around 3:15)
連載スタートまで//Prior to Start of Serialization
Kishimoto created a one-shot plot, and it received a positive response
SJ wanted to serialize it, but were worried and felt that the readers could not emphasize/relate as well to the original form of Naruto (in the original plot, he could alternate between being a little fox form and a boy form...not like how the kyuubi was portrayed later.)
In response, Kishimoto wrote additional plots, but were they lackluster in comparison to the Naruto plot
SJ decided to go ahead with Naruto, but with modifications (such as Naruto being an actual person as a jinchuriki, additions of village system and other shinobi classes).
一番苦労した時は?//When was the most difficult time?
During the serialization period prior to the chuunin exam arc was the hardest time period
Kishimoto did not necessarily have anything in mind for the upcoming events. He wasn’t sure of what to do next.
After talking to the editors, they decided that they wanted to step-up the development and see the training of the characters to show the progression of shinobi.
This was the idea behind the chuunin exam arc.
矢作編集長はナルトがノ一番好き//Editor-In-Chief Yahagi likes Naruto (as a character) the most
The feeling of the one-shot plot versus the serialization version of Naruto are about the same
Even though Naruto has grown up throughout the series, he hasn’t changed at all from the Naruto in the plot, the early days, and to the Naruto we know now.
15年に及ぶ連載が完結する今、思う事// Now that serialization has been completed after 15 years, what are your thoughts/feelings?
In the early days, he expected/thought it would be great if the series would last about a decade.
Wanted Naruto’s life to be drawn, and enjoyed Kishimoto’s magnificent work from the way it all worked out
Thank you to Kishimoto for 15 years of hardwork and to all the readers for keeping up with the series
