As much as Jiraiya is my fave, as you can tell by my avatar, his death was needed to help Naruto progress. Naruto needed to decide to take up Jiraiya's legacy of finding a path to peace. He had one of the best deaths in the series. I wouldn't want to see it ruined.

Death in Naruto became meaningless when someone would just turn around and bring you back to life. Especially the more emotional deaths that were ruined by Edo Tensei or magic Jesus powers.
