I just want to know what kind of plot and characters this person finds good. Nothing wrong with it. AoT is my favorite Manga/Anime because of the plot, characters and their development. I want to know what is better so I can check it out. Haven't seen a good Anime/Manga in a while hmm
SnK is good but the character development is definitely underwhelming. I'd say only Armin, Jean and to a lesser extent Historia are well developed characters, the rest of the characters fall more into the ''generic'' trope. Recently the author even admitted that its most popular character, Levi Ackerman, was purposely made generic looking and have a generic personality so to bait the female fans who enjoy male romance.

The animation and music are both awesome.

It has a decent plot. Not great, but it's more than most people give it credit for.

It has likeable characters, and it evokes a real sense of danger and suspense, which keeps you on your toes and keeps it interesting. The fights are good.

These are its strengths imo.

But, as with many things nowadays, if people see something and didn't really like it, and then see other people really enjoying it, it's "overrated." If you want a sense of its quality, you should watch it for yourself. I highly recommend trying it out, but don't let what people say here determine its quality for you.
The characters are bland and really haven't had any development. Eren has always wanted to kill Titans. Mikasa has always wanted to protect Eren. Levi has always been a tsundere. Armin...well, I guess he's been developed.

The plot has nice twists and such, but it's a rehashed premise. Monster vs. Humans. Who will win? Of course, one could say anything is rehashed, so this argument doesn't really hold that much weight.

Animation and music? Both are solid. I'll definitely give it credit for that.

What you said isn't necessarily true. I see people that love Naruto (most of the people here), and I strongly dislike it. I'm not hating the series because other people like it. I dislike the show because it is objectively bad and cliche, and a ripoff.

Tokyo Ghoul, Claymore, Deadman Wonderland. All 3 of those are more or less similar in concept with SnK but have better writing, more interesting characters and more gripping plots. And I'm talking about the manga versions.

I would not recommend watching it.

Its completely overrated.

The "mysteries" of the manga are only so because they offer little to no info on whats currently going on creating the illusion that it has depth.Any plot they do offer cannot be speculated on because there so sparse not too mention boring.

The characters are completely one dimensional especially Mikasa is the ever silent super powerful reserved companion protagonist.

Erin is completely annoying as a protagonist displaying one emotion ...anger.

There is talks about humanity and its struggles and defending there home.(possibly last place on earth)Even though you never get immersed into the place they live.I could not tell you what era, what type of cultures they have,or even how big the place is in general as the city is just a back drop and not apart of the story at all.

And the abilities of the people in the show are horribly specific to plot

The constant blood doesn't make it "Real" or "Depressing" just cheesy and extremely over bearing.

TRUST ME your not missing jack.

Tokyo Ghoul was bad in a lot of ways IMO.
I didn't enjoy Claymore.
I never checked DW out, I'm going to though.

The writing of TG and Claymore is inferior compared to AoT if you ask me. The characters, well... I hated them.

It's funny that so many call AoT overrated though Lol Most people who say that didn't understand the story and or even the characters. But hey, that's with pretty much everything popular.

Being overrated doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad, just that it doesn't deserve all the hype since SnK has pretty much a lot of cliches; humans vs. monsters, government is behind everything. etc. etc.

That's exactly how you create a mystery, the lack of information. Giving information is the path that reveals a mystery. Mystery is literally the lack of information.

Funny that you say that. Seems you don't get this character at all. I've seen a great post on Tumblr talking about Eren as a character and what makes him so great, why he's not just a raging monster. But I think it's not allowed to post links in here. hmm

You're not allowed to post links to anime-related forums. Tumblr is fine.

What truly defines Eren's character is his uncontrollable rage and thirst for revenge against titans. That's what stands out the most about his character. I agree that he has a different side to him but his rage is still his most prominent trait
even in the latest chapter the last page ends with him raging

I get what you mean, I truly do.

But for me it are just good working concepts. Most people want inovative stuff but get pissed if they get some. Funny how that works Lol

@Bold: I don't want to go into that. I'll just say that Kaneki and Clare had more development than the whole AoTverse. But I won't get into the: Your show sucks compared to mine discussion. You might say FMA B is also inferior to AoT so i'd rather end this here.

What I really want to address is:

@red: Are you telling me by any chance that AoT has such a complex plot that so many people were unable to comprehend it?

That's like saying Itachi is a bad character because his most prominent trait is deception.

Most people that didn't enjoy it say it's about killing giant naked people. So yes, a lot of people don't get it. Sad though, cuz the plot is easy to understand.
