Two wasted characters who had potential

They're of course- Rock Lee and Neji

Initially introduced along with Gaara to rival Naruto and Sasuke, both Neji and Gaara received extremely inadequate screen time in Part 2. Not only that, their presence became completely irrelevant to plot. At the beginning of Part 2 Naruto was definitely weaker than Rock Lee. Thanks to Kishimoto's negligence, both Lee and Neji were stuck on the same level as early part 2, while Naruto reached Kage level by Pain Arc. Even before his death, Neji was not Kage level powerwise, while Rock Lee is debatable.

Gaara at least became a Kage, even though his personality was destroyed in Part 2. Had Kishimoto focused more on Neji and Lee, the manga would be less linear with few Uchiha BS. Half of part 2 was spent on Naruto chasing sasuke, the other half spent on war. What's the point of introducing good characters without developing them?

Oro was still a major character before Itachi's death, and later he revived the 4 hokage.
Neji became a supporting character of another supporting character (Hinata). As for Rock Lee...he became as relevant as Kiba

I think Kishi focused more about Akatsuki in Part 2 he neglected about them entirely in Part 1.

I agree they should have got story arc like Shikamaru got in Hidan and Kukazu Pursuit .

But konohamaru also. Kishi actually named the second chapter of naruto after Kim. He was supposed to be important to the plot.

Then you have Hanabi hyuuga. What's special about her. We don't know. I do wish Kishi would have explored the Hyuuga clan more perhaps we would have learn more about the byakugan.

Karin yes I have said it. She deserved a proper back story. May have led us to learn about the demise of her clan.

Oh look a thread about Rock lee and Neji not getting development in part 2 :| this thread is so original, no one else has ever complained about this before when the series was still going on. This should be given to Kishi right away so he can re-write part 2 in favor of the people who want to see Rock Lee and Neji chasing after Sasuke instead of Naruto, Fighting the Akatsuki, fighting the entire war by themselves, Stopping the Juubi, Fightng Madara and sealing Kaguya. Neji and Rock lee could have been the greatest side characters in Shonen history, but Kishi didn't develop them in part 2 ohhhhhh nooooooo.

Ford must be an useless company when you have Ferrari. Gai being stronger and having more presence in manga does not take Lee's own usefulness.

I agree, but then again it's not just them, and it's not just about them getting stronger. Neji should have had a character arc so that his death could have had more actual impact on the storyline.
