Why are you so worked up about this?

It is his habit though. He has become accustomed to having his eye covered. It is how he is most comfortable.

Also him having his headband covering his eye also hides his unsightly scar he has over his eye.

Its the same thing with people who suffer injuries. Even once they are healed, they are still in the habit of going easy on the formerly hurt leg. It takes conscious effort to get back to normal.
