NGE Rebuilds are a... "reworking" (something a little more than a remake, for lack of a better word) of the original NGE series, whereas The Last is a direct sequel to chapter 699 (it is canonically set between 699 and 700).

But I will say this. It's pretty damn good with the rebuilds included. It's just a hot mess that you have to sort out in order to enjoy.

You're right about the NGE rebuild as well. I think I just saw them as the same in regards that they change a few things up.
