In Naruto, we were softly introduced to both the Hyuga and the Uchiha.
In Naruto Shippuden, the focus was on the Uchiha for the majority of the show, while the Hyuga were in the background. The legendary sharingan and rinnegan eyes passed down from the Juubi, Hagaromo, Indra, etc.. Then towards the end, the Hyuga slowly were coming back into the picture with Neji's death, Kaguya, Hamura, etc.. The new Naruto: The Last movie also has the Hyuga and Kaguya's descendants as the main plot devices. There will even be an extra anime episode to bring the Hyuga back into the spotlight: "What is known is that there will be a Naruto Shippuden special on December 4th that will focus on the Hyuga sisters, Hanabi and Hinata. Date-san was unable to speak much about the special, but he did say the special will address points such as how Hanabi has changed since we last saw her and what she is doing now."

In Naruto part 3 (it has been confirmed kishimoto will be writing it), the Uchiha no longer exist (with the exception of Sasuke and possibly Salada), the Uchiha villains of the past are now dead, and Naruto's children both possibly inherited the Byakugan. Hamura was Hagaromo's brother, and much like how Hagaromo passed down the sharingan, Hamura passed down the Byakugan.
"It is said that the Uchiha clan's origins lie with the Hyuga clan."
"The husk of Ten Tails, the Gedō Statue, was sealed in the moon. Hamura took leadership of the clan and decreed that they would stand guard over the statue."
- Fourth Databook, pages 216-217
The Ōtsutsuki Clan
"The Ōtsutsuki Clan (大筒木一族, Ōtsutsuki Ichizoku) is a clan originating from another world, having arrived to the Earth about 1,000 years ago. Several members of this clan have heavily influenced both the shinobi, and the world at large with their actions having shaped the world into what it is today. Members of this clan notably have unusual anatomy such as horns and pale grey skin. They also seem adapted to living in otherwise uninhabitable environments such as the Moon."

- Fourth Databook, pages 216-217
"One millennium later, Toneri Ōtsutsuki, a direct descendant of the clan, would return to undo what his ancestors had made, planning to destroy humanity by having the moon collide with the earth, as a punishment for humans abusing chakra for militant purposes, specifically targeting Hinata Hyūga for unknown reasons."
The focus of Naruto is steadily shifting towards the Hyuga.
