EMS just means his sharingan won't fade from use, he can still deactivate it. Only Kakashi or other Non-Uchiha who have an implanted Sharingan can't turn it off.

I thought about some theories on what happened in the forest, but this did not came in my mind.

If Sasuke used his Rinnegan, he could notice the clones, yet he did not.

This would explain why Sarada was shown the page before Sasuke though.
