Not sure man. I am well aware of even the fact that the tallest man on earth, was a Chinese guy at some point.

HOWEVER!!!! You have to look at the general, gathered statistics, and not your regular "BUT I SAW TALL ASIAN" experience.

Average height of a male Chinese is 5.5 ft.
Average height of a male Japanese is 5.7 ft.

While the tallest dudes are as you expect, Scandinavian. All of them at 6ft or above.


And there are a lot more of those who "we" consider "short" people, in the world. It just happens to be that 1st World countries and culture of West Europe and its immigrants (USA), gives us an impression that that height is short.
