Indra's chakra is the sole reason why his descendants can awaken the Sharingan. It's more than just simply inheriting the eye. That's why genetics come in to play and it's why certain Uchiha end up developing different abilities when they go beyond the 3T (MS). The chakra which awakens the Sharingan is the same thanks to Indra, but the varied genetics contributes to things like Kamui arising.

Sarada still can aquire sharingan, Obito didnt lose Rin yet got it cuz he wanted to protect friends.

Girls are far more emotional she may get it over her pet dying.

You always get a gene, but in many cases its dormant.

This just happens to be sharingan case, their dormant sharingan gene gets awakened upon emotional trauma of sorts.
