NS fans everywhere like me are really butt hurt at this ending. But at this point i really don't care anymore for ranting and arguing. If naruto ends up with a girl, with whom he hasn't had an actual conversation with in 700 chapters then fine. If sakura wants sasuke so bad that she is willing to leave the village, her family, and friends to go on a journey with him with no particular destination after the same guy essentially stabbed her twice and almost killed her once then fine. But do you think in the movie, naruto and sakura will have some type of conversation about what exists between them as a means of closure? Sakura has been made aware of his feelings by sai, and we all know that at some point naruto did love Sakura. So both are aware of the situation. I will be so pissed if this isn't addressed. Also, is anyone else surprised that Sakura never found out that it was Naruto in henge on the bench with the cute charming forehead thing?
Well you are taking a fictional work too much to the heart. It has been going in this direction for sometime now, you know. Not to forget that Naruto knows exactly what it feels like to be not noticed after all the attention so he would appreciate someone liking him just for himself. He liked Hinata ( he said he did even though he felt she was weird) and it's flattering that someone likes you enough to die for you. Hinata's confession in pain arc, Naruto acknowledging her and encouraging her during the war ( while fighting with Zetsus) showed his appreciation and Neji's death kind of sealed it. He died protecting Hinata who was protecting Naruto. That gave them something in common to relate to and feel for. No wonder their son is named Boruto/Bolt honouring Naji's memory.

As for Naruto /Sakura - That pairing could have been pretty interesting too and I agree that there were many elements which might have worked in their favour in different circumstances but that was something which depended on how characters felt. Sakura definitely likes Naruto but as a team mate, and friend. It could become a relationship if Hinata and Sasuke were not in the picture and they could found it on the basis of mutual respect, understanding and empathy born after years of knowing each other and a more mature kind of love. But the way story went, it always worked more on Sasuke/Sakura pairing than Naruto/HInata.

As for closure- I think Naruto already got a closer when Sakura requested him to bring back Sasuke for her.
At that point he knew whether she starts liking him or not Sasuke was likely to be between them. And when she tried to tell him that she loved him but failed to make in convincing enough for him to believe it. And the fact that she couldn't bring herself to kill Sasuke and faltered. The fact that when someone else made advances towards her during the war even then she thought of was Sasuke, only.

Everything she learned about Naruto was at much slower rate. She realized his sincerity and came to understand him and appreciate him but it was more like pretty close friends than lover's love. So there is no need to feel sorry for them. In fact Naruto succeeded in so many ways that a small disappointment on that front would do him good.

As for her going with Sasuke I guess she always felt for him and he showed he appreciated it and apologized and has been trying to redeem himself rest of his life so what's wrong with him getting someone dependable..... Especially if he hasn't chosen the artificial hand either, I'm going to think of it as his self punishment of a sort for what he trouble he caused to Naruto..( we will see in the movie only but.. whatever)

I think at some point or another we all take something closer to heart then we should. This doesn't excuse rudeness but I feel that in all fairness it should be said. I understand the common ground elements but understanding and common ground shouldn't automatically equal romance. She was extremely bold and it speak wonderful volumes for her character that she was willing to do that. However Sakura was willing to put aside her life for Naruto's happiness, I wouldn't say its on par with Hinata taking a pole but its still worth mentioning. As for Neji's death (BTW Kishimoto brings back every character and their mother but he lets Neji stay dead) like how Iruka acknowledged him at the beginning he needed a push. I see on no uncertain terms now that it is a romance thing, but at the time it seemed like he was just thanking Hinata for her support and acknowledging her as a great friend. As for NS closure in the manga it became very obvious quite quick NS wouldn't happen when they woke up as for the fans well no we won't. I would have preferred to see Sasuke going further down the road of redemption, his apologies and keeping his arm missing was a great start. Overall though I feel the ending was rushed and it should have been drawn out and talked about a little more.

Yea it's true that Sakura was ready to put her own longing for Sasuke behind her to make it up to Naruto, but you are forgetting that Hinata had already confessed. The first one gets better chances and after Neji's death like that it was going to suck even more for Hinata being the one getting rejected. She has practically made Naruto center of her existence, risked death twice for him. Second time it resulted in Neji dieing saving both of them. And knowing what kind of person Naruto is he wouldn't be able to reject her after all this that easily unless something makes her back down completely on her own and move on to someone else. It's not like he was with someone else at that point anyway. He was single. Hinata was there for him and he knew Sakura was in love with someone else.

Even if it was more from Hinata's side than Naruto, it was kind of compromise which worked for all four people in the equation. Kakashi clearly indicated that people shut up and accepted him mainly because of Naruto and him putting in words for him. There was a good chance that he would have to deal with similar treatment as Madara otherwise. No one else would understand both side (sympathy for Sasuke as well as POV of the villagers) better than his team which cared for him the most, like a family and they are the people who can bind and connect him back to Konoha. So yeah Sakura is practical choice who loved him too. Now that he was back Sakura rejecting him while understandable if happened, would keep things more awkward. Of course I'm sure Sakura hater group would have loved the Sasuke Karin pairing better but this way her daughter stalking Naruto's son kind completes the circle. So naru Sasu fans were not completely ignored.

The whole war arc had been shortened at many points and yet it was so long...I think Kishi couldn't make everyone happy so he decided to take the break he wanted and needed anyway. The guy never got around to go on his honeymoon even since his marriage 10 years ago due to his schedule. Let him have some time to his own romance and family.

I still have reservations that he put a real family aside for the manga, but that is neither here nor there. I think no matter how you slice it there was substantial build up for both sides I was just on the wrong one. I really think this manga would have benefited from a split ending NS and NH we would all be happy. Though awkward I think Naruto and the village would have been able to accept Sasuke again and you don't need to be in love with someone to understand them. And I will be honest I don't quite like the war, Madara, and Kaguya arc's. Not for any pairing reason its just it all felt sloppy, rushed and needles for the most part. the real development came from the Naruto vs Sasuke at the end I liked it. Plus regardless of shipping's taking a quick look most readers like the manga quite a bit less then I would have expected so I can't help but think that it does far deeper then pairing but I digress. Honestly I don't know if pairings in general were a good idea for Naruto they haven't really produced anything worth while or at least not all that much. Its been fun chatting Ira but I think this thread will be dead by the next time I log on. If you want to continue PM me :)

Cheers!

Split ending means no closure at all. But writer wanted to finally give Naruto a stable family and Hokage seat which he did. Read it some time in volumes later on away for forums and it would give you much better experience.

I really am not interested in pairings all that much. I wouldn't have cared if Naruto ended up married to Temari. So see ya some other time.
