Why do people make stupid nicknames ?

I mean for the characters that is, it seems to be a trend for a long time now to affiliate the characters with a ridiculous nickname in an attempt to "act cool".

Examples:

Noodles
Sausegay
Suckura
Hinatard
Salad
Kishit(trending lately with readers who didn't like the ending)

etc etc
