If you think about it if neji were alive and kicking right now he would be just as important as hinata in the movie considering he could have develop more than hinata being better using the byakugan than her. I bet you he were in the movie he would have went bat shit cray going after Toneri.

What's worse was that Neji did it under the guise that he was controlling his own destiny when in fact, fate/destiny in this manga is determined since birth (see Naruto the destined child). I'm talking about if he were alive his relevance in the movie would be more important than other characters, don't get me wrong hinata will always more important than him ( considering he's currently dead ) but the fact neji really cares for hinata he would do some naruto shit to get her back from Toneri.

Neji death would be more befitting in the movie (Hyuga) than in the war, cause since shippuden, especially in the war, he has been completely fodderrized and this war serves him no roles

Neji would have been great in the rescue team, especially to save Hinata.

I guess his character was chosen to die so he could follow in his father's footsteps and fully understand his father's decision that had previously made Neji so bitter.

It parallels Kakashi's father-son story, in that the son ends up making the same choice as the father.

Neji death was so pointless, it'll be more befitting if he dies in the movie to protect Hinata together with Naruto and Hanabi !
