I personally don't think it should be because it should be up to a person if they choose to stay healthy and exercise or to let themselves go. It should be an optional course for people to exercise at school while others either exercise after school or not at all.

They need to make it required for every year tbh, or give the option to take weight training or some activity based course. I don't see any negatives about it

Nah, it's up to the individual.

You shouldn't spoon feed people when they don't want it in the first place. What you may want is not the same as what other people want.

Well,
I'd say yes it's been proven to help kids in school.
It's been proven to help improve self-confidence and self-esteem, but also harm both of those for some kids.
I think most kids just need motivation in PE rather than some ******* screaming at them.

This, if gym was mandatory every year it would be good. People always neglect their bodies just because they'd rather work on their mind. In my opinion there needs to be at least some balance.

Yeah what these guys said. Besides it's a good break from classes, playing dodgeball and stuff
That's not what we did in my P.E. class. All we did is run for like 30 mins every day.

I agree with these sentiments but....

What BlacLord said holds true. If this is a country truly free to make your own choices, this would include the choice of being a fata** or lazy. Still their choice so no P.E should not be required.

I think it should be an obligated course, but that there should be options within the course. Like, a choice between sports involving balls (Yes, balls), for example baseball, dodgeball, soccer, american football etc. or gymnastics or even other choices, so people can actually enjoy P.E.

Yeah, but that's you. Nobody is the same or wants the same things.

In the UK, it's compulsory for as long as education overall is compulsory but in all honesty, it's little effective. My school did a 2 hour slot each week but was there really any difference? Nope.

Although I got out of the last two years because I was at college simultaneously.

Then according to that logic, if people dont like Math, then they should also have the choice not to take math. Heck then by your logic if these kids dont want to go to school then they shouldnt.
You see, what you have failed to realize is that school is an artificial environment where you have no choice. You will take P.E. because its necessary. Its only a 45 minute class, and because after you graduate if you want to be a lazy ass then be my guest.

I SIR BLADES OF CHAOS, HAVE SPOKEN.

Yes, it should be compulsory. One team sport and one individual sport. Exercise raises life expectancy therefore it is good for the economy and living standards of the population. Team sport to develop ideals of teamwork (and for the social factor) and individual sport to develop self esteem and confidence.

To most of the fat fvcks in the world is the only time of the day they get a bit of movement, so Yeah.....it should be. You're doing them a favor.

Now this would be a good idea. If it must be mandatory then their should be some freedom to choose exactly what type of physical exercise you engage in

like the ones you stated above there should also be like yoga/Palates, aerobics, etc. maybe that is just money schools don't want to spend or don't fit in their budgets. PE seems to be one of the 1st things to go when schools need to make cutbacks.

Well, your word doesn't count for much since you can't compare P.E. to Maths.

Subjects of the mind are tools you can take and use throughout your whole life but the same can't be said for P.E. unless you're planning to enter the sports field.

I look to all my peers in my year group and how many of them have benefited from compulsory P.E.? No more than 10, out of a year group of 100. How many have benefited from the staple subjects? At least 95.

All of the fat fvcks in my PE class just chose to skip class or not dress out, and therefore not have to exercise.

We require education and P.E. is physical education, so, yes. Besides more and more folks are showing side effects of being Vitamin D deficient which can include depression and joint pain. Ever wonder why Seattle has it's suicide rate? No sun is not good for you. Don't listen to Hugh Jackman, he just wants you out of the sun watching his movies.
