A lot of people are talking about Naruto hiding a rasengan/double-rasengan underwater, or maybe even a simple kunai to stab each other; but there is a far simpler alternative for Naruto to dodge the chidori...

Naruto could simply let go of his chakra control and just submerge into the water/river/whatever. That way, Sasuke's last ounce of attack will fail and both will be even again with no shred of chakra left.

It's a very good strategy to dodge the chidori in Naruto's current situation but I think Kishi would prefer to end things with more gore rather than common sense next chapter.

Haha that's such a high level of common sense that I didn't even think of that. Wow

I'm pretty sure it isn't possible to "hide" a Rasengan underwater. The rotation of the Rasengan would move the water.

Well, the situation still is somewhat weird. I mean if they literally had no chakra left, how are they walking on water. That needs chakra too, though a very tiny amount. they are too exhausted to stand yet they have chakra enough to stay afloat.

But I guess, Kishi wanted to hide Naruto's next move so he took the water route.

I remember a filler episode where Naruto created a mini whirlpool by creating a Rasengan underwater. So, yes.

Yeah but it will never happen, just like surprising another jedi by force switching their lightsaber button off or just plain grabbing their lightsaber with the force. Or while they are clashing lightsabers turn theirs off and back on real quick and catch them off guard lol. Would be cool but no one ever does it :(

If they had no chakra left, they would be dead already. Focusing chakra to your points does not expend chakra unless you transform that chakra into ninjutsu. Thus, floating on water does not take up chakra.

Exactly. Deceiving like that seems a legit countermeasure but somehow it is rarely used.

Hmmm..that makes sense. Thumbs up.

If mangas used common sense, they would be drawn documentaries.

Naruto loses. The movie isn't canon. Faulty logic is faulty.

It would still electrocute him though.

Chidori is meant to pierce the heart/vital organ to kill a person. Having survived much larger scale attacks, Naruto will surely not die with a chidori‘s electric current in water; especially when the lightning nature chakra is meant to aid the piercing attack in a chidori, not to electrocute. Besides, a certain chakra nature user isnt immune to that nature. Sasuke may get electrocuted too by your logic

Sure. Be in denial as long as you want. Wont change the fact.
