The regular Full Metal Alchemist deters from the manga at a certain point, making the entire thing non-canon.


Brotherhood follows the manga to a t, and the animation and the...hhnnng...it's just that good

Both series are good.

Although the original FMA has a few plot holes but overall it's still great. It's that way because of how far the series was at the time, I think.

FMA brotherhood is pretty damn good i recommend it. tho the ending for the 2003 version is much better than the brotherhood version

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is excellent. If you haven't watched it you should probably do it right now. Seriously, drop everything, look it up, and start watching.

Um... Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is one of the most critically acclaimed and praised anime of all-time... even more so than Death Note. It's one of the only anime consistently called "a masterpiece".

The original anime deviates from the manga but stands very strong on its own.

I recently started FMA brotherhood and I have loved every moment of it so far (on episode 52/60). If you have time I'd say watch both of them, but if you are choosing between one or the other I'd say FMA B

My personal favorite of all time and widely recognized as one of the greatest of all time.

There is two series one that follows the manga and the other that the author singed off on before the series was over and since she worked closely with it,it contains no filler but,it does have a drastically different ending and themes that diverge from the source material halfway through.

The first series is the one that is hailed as one of the best.
I am not familiar where the anime that follows the manga stands regarding overall best series of all time but,the word is that people who follow the manga like it a lot more.
