Hmm I wonder why so many people are suddenly visiting africa, thats the last place I would've thought of ever visiting in the first place, even before Ebola became a Topic. Have you ever considered that these people have been "visiting" africa long before ebola became a issue? Generally africa is not a tourist destination, but there have been, and continue to be people who go over there as missionaries, to help the african people in poverty.(the first American infected with ebola, was infact himself a missionary working over there to help treat the people(before this became a crisis))

There is no "many people suddenly visiting africa" going on. The only difference, between now and the past, is mostly that the traffic from africa is suddenly focused on. And there are people who are going over there to try to help.


Other than that, Ebola in New york city, is really lousy. All it really would take, would be 1 person to infect 1 random person(in which there is no trail on who comes into contact)and then this could become a serious threat in the USA.

Hopefully we will have dodged another bullet.

Supposedly he was not showing symptoms at the time - but there is truthfully insufficient data to illustrate that one is -not- able to communicate the disease prior to displaying symptoms.

Which is why we should be placing these people under quarantine in Africa not just saying: "Yeah... uh... let us know if you start feeling sick... you have been working on Ebola patients and will be in a city where you come into close contact with hundreds of people each day."

While there is never a reason to panic - there is a reason to give nature a wide berth. There is absolutely no reason to invite the possibility of this virus into our nation like this.

Sure. We are -probably- going to be just fine.

However.

If Dippy Derp and company in the CDC is wrong by even the slightest margin of error - it will be a -very- difficult problem to contain.

It's senseless risk-taking for the sake of bloating the ego of overpaid officials.

I think we just have elected stupid people because we are not very discerning regarding our politicians. Then those stupid people put other stupid people from their ideology in positions of authority.

Then we get this, and the general public says: "Uh... WTF... you dumb bastards, what is wrong with you?"

The only ones, at this point, who agree with the administration are those who value politics over reality. They'd rather do and say anything to try and prevent their party from admitting a mistake than to actually display leadership and resolve the mistake.

Basically, the only people, at this point, who are parroting the talking points are those who are so deep into politics that they fail to understand the reality. They don't even see that there could be a problem worse than giving Republicans the ability to say: "Obama changed sides on this issue."

And there would be some republicans who would try that - it wouldn't work well for them. The general populace, once it begins paying attention, is not all that stupid.

You just have to get them to pay attention - organ-melting viruses tend to do that.
