gracefully walks towards the meeting area where she was to meet her newest student, a female like herself and a young and aspiring shinobi. She stood in front of her, analyzing her body structure and her oddly-short height. Without uttering a single word, she motions her hand as if she was telling Wendy to follow her and quickly scurries off into the wilderness. A little further and a little deeper into the woods, a new environment was hidden. One where large rocks and mountains towered the rocky landscape. Jumping with a chakra enhanced jump, Nico Robin reaches the top of a fairly-large boulder and assumed a meditative state. "I assume this is your first training session on the earth element. Anyways, we shall proceed right away. Before starting with the real training, i'd like to go through various exercises that will help your overall career as a shinobi. Anyways, I want you to answer these questions." She slipped into her ninja pouch, taking out a single scroll, and tosses it to the student. "They are not all about the earth element, but each and everyone of them is useful to know. Please answer them to the best of your abilities, and don't hesitate to ask any questions."

"A shinobi, or ninja, is someone that performs jutsus using chakra, female ninjas are named kunoichi this is the basic explanation, ninjas also most of the time come from hidden villages, and wear a headband of that village, ninjas do missions for a fee, the rank of the mission vaying from the rank of the ninja, Genin, D-C rank, Chunnin, D-B rank, Jounin, D-S rank, even though jounin is the highest rank without counting the hokage, there are also unnoficial names, like the Sannin, also, not necessary the mission is based on the rank, Gaara made S-rank missions while being a genin.
Chakra is created when the user molds his phisical energy, of his body, with his spiritual energy, that comes from his mind, forming a blue aura around the user when he gathers a large amount of chakra, showed by Naruto, tailed beasts, or Bijuu, have red chakra instead of blue chakra, chakra is withing every living being, manipulating chakra, the ninja uses ninjutsu, which is the basic of chakra manipulation, which the ninja only uses shape manipulation to manipulate the chakra, shaping it acording to the user's will, for example creating a condensed sphere of chakra like in Rasengan, according to my knowledge (to not metagame), the ninjutsu was created by the Rikudou Sennin, taijutsu is the basic form of techniques and it's martial arts, basically, there are ways to improve your taijutsu, by the secret style of the Hyuugas Jyuuken and some people with excellent chakra control, by using chakra to increase the strenght of the attacks, genjutsu is creating illusions on the enemy's mind by manipulating his chakra using your own chakra to make the enemy have illusions.
The core elements of this world are, 火遁, Katon, 風遁, Fūton, 雷遁, Raiton, 土遁, Doton and 水遁, Suiton, each being in an cycle of who is stronger to who, Katon is strong to Futon that is strong to Raiton that is strong to Doton that is strong to Suiton that is strong to Katon.

A kekkei gekkai is an special ability used by a clan, an ability passed by blood, there are many kekkei gekkais, from those simpler, like from the Akimichi, Nara, Inuzuka clan, to more advanced Kekkei Gekkais like the Sharingan of the Uchihas, which has multiple stages, each stronger than another, the Byakugan of the Hyuuga, and some clans have the ability of manipulating 2 elements at the same time, creating another element, and some even more exclusive people, have the ability to manipulate 3 elements at the same time, which was only shown with Dust Release. There isn't any know Kekkei Gekkai that can mix 4 elements.
There are 12 common handseals, others being used by exclusive clans, which are Bird, 酉, Tori ,Boar, 亥, I ,Dog 戌, Inu ,Dragon 辰, Hatsu, Ox 丑, Ushi, Tiger 寅, Tora, Snake 巳, Mi, Rat 子, Ne, Horse 午, Uma, Monkey 申, Saru, Hare 卯, U, Ram 未, Hitsuji.

Handseals are used to manipulate the quantity of chakra used to make a jutsu, which is why they are more common in high ranked jutsus.
Size affects the clash between two distincts jutsus because, for example, if the person uses a rasengan against a huge water attack that is lower ranked than it, the water jutsu would still hit because usually they are big and the rasengan can't block it all due to it's small size. Form also matter because, taking for example fire, if it was released as a flammable gas, it wouldn't be able to block an attack, instead have another effects such as stopping the opponent from using attacks that might ignite it. Mass also affects because, if something of a higher mass hit something with lower mass of the same size, the one with higher mass would win because of it being more condensed, so the element wants to liberate itself, creating more force. Characteristics also, because if someone uses just a fluid water it wouldn't block a kunai enhanced with lightning or wind, it would need a condensed water to block it.

"Overall a decent explanation. I'll just add onto some of your points. Ninja is defined differently for everyone, I personally think its a shinobi who is able to fight to their fullest for, and to defend the village they are loyal under. Ninjutsu techniques are techniques ninjas utilize to battle, or to aid them in any activities. A subsection for this is the five elements, and even further, Kekkei Genkai elements which are used in combination of two or more elements. To elaborate more on taijutsu, it is anything that uses the body to fight, through punches and whatnot. The most prominent branch of taijutsu is known as the Eight Inner Gates where you push your body to the limit to unlock a mode of inhumane strength. Branches of Genjutsu is MS genjutsu, used through the Sharingan and basic sharingan genjutsu which is far more stronger and has a larger range of usages as opposed to normal illusions. Visual genjutsus are genjutsus created and displayed for the eyes, which can be used through mediums like rain, terrain, etc. I most especially liked the picture you displayed, because it sums up the strengths and weaknesses of each elements. (PS: The Juubito or Madara w/ Rinnegan (Can't remember) was supposedly able to mix four elemental chakra together, if i recall correctly)"Hand seals are used to mold chakra for specific techniques and are generally used on complicated techniques, and I am amazed at your explanation of the 8th question." It's quite simple, for example, chakra would be manipulated to be thin and sharp, for the wind element. Shape manipulation deals with shaping elements, or raw chakra, and even the direction and speed in which they move.

Earth is versatile, and it is powerful because of its mass and it is easily shaped. Tell me, why do you want to learn Earth Release? Adding onto that, I'd like you to, with detail, explain anything and everything you know about Earth release specifically. What are its strengths and weaknesses, relations with other elements, primary usages, etc. Anything!

Answering to the questions. "I want to learn doton because it's the most defensive element, also the second most versatile. Doton, or Earth Release, is one of the basic 5 elements, it is weak to lightning and strong to water, Doton consists in manipulating and/or creating earth, with Doton, you can manipulate the hardness and composition of the earth to make it very hard or very soft, also you can change their density, making them lighter or heavier, showed by Oonoki which allows him to fly, Doton can also be used to move through the ground, it's strong points is that it is most of the time defensive and offensive at the same time, you can create attacks from under the opponent, you cannot be seen underground besides by a Uchiha, Hyuuga or Sensor, but it is the slowest of the 5 elements, it's the harder one to create with your own chakra, so most users use a source of it, the ground, thought that isn't possible while airborne. Doton is the component of the Kekkei Gekkais Mokuton, Bakuton*, Younton, it is also part of the Kekkei Tota Jinton. Doton is primary used to make plates, domes and projectiles, the first 2 being both defensive and offensive.
If I were to mold Doton chakra, I would think of it as a hard, but easily shaped thing, something that can be easily manipulated.

"Good answer, though I will elaborate more on your explanation. Earth release is commonly used to change the composition and mass of earth, so it can be as soft as clay, or hard as steel, while being as heavy as a meteor or light as a feather. One of your point is incorrect- some earth techniques can be performed without physical contact with the ground, but only those that have been shown to do so in the manga. Earth is affiliated with Iwagakure and is an extremely versatile element because not only is it best for defensive usages, offensive uses of this technique is fairly powerful as well. Now, with interactions between earth and other elements. Earth and water is shown through mud type attacks, because earth takes the form of water-like fluid properties. Fire and earth can together can create makeshift lava-type techniques, and it can heat up the earth which is extremely useful. That is all I have to add."

Nico Robin, from her pouch, took out a small piece of chakra paper. "Alright, as you suggested, earth chakra should be somewhat sturdy and hard because in nature, it does have these properties. They should be unified together while performing nature transformation and heavy as well." She handed the paper to the student, and as he grabbed it, she continued, "I assume you know of this special piece of paper. It reacts with certain elemental nature once you channel X element into it. Today, I want you to channel earth-based chakra onto the chakra paper. Remember your training up to now, how you described earth and how it felt and especially, how earth chakra's properties should be like. The desired effects is that the earth chakra would influence the chakra paper in such a way that it hardens and cripples. Give it a try, and we'll move on with the techniques once you've done so successfully!"

As Wendy grabs the paper, she focus on molding raw chakra and infusing it into the paper, while nothing happens with only chakra, she created a strong mental image of earth, something strong, sturdy, immovable, as she thinks of the characteristics of earth, the paper changes, getting a little brown, the earth chakra is crushing the fibers of the paper, turning it into dust, as she uses more chakra into the paper, the paper desintegrates because of the pressure of the earth into a million of pieces.

"Perfect, perfect, perfect! Good job. Now, let's move on to the techniques." Nico Robin said with enthusiasm, as she walks the student towards a larger area, clear of space. "Recall the feeling of earth chakra. How you created and manipulated it, and basically the characteristics of earth. Now, gather chakra and apply nature transformation, changing it to the properties of earth thereby creating earth chakra. Once you've done so, channel the earth chakra through your feet, or your hands if you're making physical contact with your hand and shape out constructs of earth. They are considerable weak and small because of the low-level chakra used, but nonetheless can be used in battle if used creatively. It can create a pillar for supplementary usages like to push yourself off, a small shield to defend again weak attacks, or tools or small constructs to attack the enemy with. Now, demonstrate your ability to mold and manipulate earth chakra by creating one of each. Then, give me one advantage, one disadvantage, and creative usages!"

Wendy goes down, putting her hands on the ground, she focus on creating a mental image of earth while molding raw chakra and gathering it on her hands, she thinks of the characteristics of the earth, strong, hard, immovable, heavy, old, that was formed billions of years ago, with those thoughts, Wendy focus on the raw chakra on her hand, changing the properties of the chakra to the characteristics of the earth, as she does that, the chakra gets browner, till it becomes totally brown, using that chakra, she manipulates the earth she is touching by infusing the chakra in it, she manipulates it, forming a small earth pillar in front of her, then she makes the pillar turn into a small shield, then using the shield, turning it into a small sword, which she then turns into normal earth.

"Sorry sensei, won't happen again, one advantage is that it doesn't require handseals, so it can be made very fast, it's also very versatile, being able to use a single technique to make a lot of things, but it's weak, the earth can be easily breaken throught the low rank of the technique, it also can't be used mid-air as it doesn't create it's own source.

"Alright, nicely done. Versatility is a trait i love about earth techniques, because you are not limited to only one usage. Because of this somewhat-weak and brittle nature, I suggest using it for supplementary usages, or creatively. Like, use it to launch yourself out of the way to avoid smaller projectile, or stream based attacks, or attack the enemy through thick earth needles towards their eyes, which is a vulnerable target and if successful, it would pierce their eyes and prevent vision. 'Weaker' techniques aren't exactly weak, one just need to find the proper usage for them."

Nico Robin proceeds with the next lesson. "Okay, the next one is sort of similar to the last one we just learned. It's simple and there is two different ways it can be used. Using your chakra, channel earth chakra through the earth around you and perform nature transformation to change the nature of your normal chakra into the sturdy and earthly properties of, well, earth. Once you've successfully created Earth chakra, I would like you to use shape manipulation to create multiple chunks of earth, which would join together to create a staff of sorts." As she spoke, she places three dummies in the training grounds, ten meters away from where the student stood. "The first way of making it can be used as a weapon for melee based freeform attack or as a projectile. The second way is to manipulate the earth to create multiple staves, and launch them all at once towards the target. Either way, accuracy is important for it to be successful. I'd like you to perform the latter way, to launch three different staves towards the three training dummies in front of you." Nico Robin paints "X's" on the training dummy's stomach, showing the target point. "Once you're done, I'd like one advantage, one disadvantage, and one combination!"

Wendy, listening to her sensei, crouch, with her hands touching the ground, with the hands united, she molds raw chakra and gathers it on her hands, as she does that, an small blue aura appears from it, then, she focus on manipulating the nature of the chakra, from a steam like structure to a hard, sturdy, focusing on that, she changes the properties of the chakra, turning the chakra into brown, doton chakra, after doing that, she infuses the chakra to the ground she is touching, making it spread a little, then she manipulates the earth that the doton chakra is in, manipulating the earth's shape, making it turn into 3 staffs of earth, as she creates the 3 staffs of earth, she launches them in the direction of the clones, because of being more staffs, they're weaker and less accurate, they hit the training dummies, but not all of them in vital spots.

"Having 2 modes, this technique can be used in some ways, but it's limited to only creating staffs of earth, and creating more of 1 decreases the accuracy and the strenght of each staff, this is a disadvantage, now an advantage, is that it can be used either as a meele weapon or ranged weapon. A combination that can be made is using a technique that leaves the user paralised, then use the multiple staffs, with less accuracy, they will still hit, but not less points, do to the enemy not being able to move, you can be sure they'll deal some damage."

"Overall nice job, though there was some unclear thoughts. As a projectile-based, it is much easier to evade like any other projectiles. The way you described the paralysis makes it sound like a lightning technique, since you didn't elaborate on how. But, if you meant to pin them on a wall or a solid structure through these staves, then that could work- of course this is one of the creative usages applicable for simple techniques."

"Next up, and our last D-rank technique." Nico Robin says with enthusiasm. "Gather chakra into your arms and remember our training with earth. Use your knowledge of earth and your experience with it to perform nature transformation to change the nature of your chakra into the properties of earth- sturdy, hard, strong, powerful, etc. Manifest that through your skin to create a ring of rock, and with a single thrust, I want you to send it out towards a target as a projectile." Nico Robin places a single training dummy, 10 meters from where the student stood and allows him to display the technique with the dummy as the target. "Once you're done, explain to me the limitations of this technique, and what do you think are the strong points of the technique?" She draws an "X" on the dummy's head and waits for the students' performance.

Wendy now stands her hands in front of her and gather raw chakra in it releasing the chakra throught her hands, she focus on changing the properties of the chakra, making it harder, sturdier, more powerful chakra, as she does that, the chakra turns into a brown substance, earth, she then molds the doton chakra, changing the shape of the earth to a small ring of earth, which her quickly send it with a single trust in the direction of the X in the training dummy, hitting it and smashing it a little.

"This technique doesn't have a lot of range, it isn't very deadly too, it can be done quickly if the opponent is coming right towards you it would be certain to hit."

Nico Robin shut her eyes for a while, and let out a deep sigh. "Alright, no worries, my student. I shall explain. Basically, projectile techniques differ from stream based because you do not continuously provide the technique with chakra. It is self-sustaining and does not need constant chakra manipulation. For example, you release a boulder of earth, as opposed to releasing a stream of water. Once you release the boulder of earth, you are free to move around and attack through different elemental techniques because you would not be molding the chakra for the earth boulder. The advantage is obviously the freedom to attack accordingly right after the projectile is sent out, the disadvantage of projectiles is the inability to control the movement paths of the projectile. Stream is essentially the opposite, where you can control its movement because you are in some form, manipulating the technique through constant chakra manipulation, but you cannot attack while releasing the stream unless you have Y/Y.
