I like how everyone assumes an exhausted Naruto is capable of balancing senjutsu so quickly. It would probably take him more fine than usual and he doesn't have time to spare right now.

He easily could have, but he wasted his chakra on a failed rasengan and a couple shadow clones. If he went sage mode instead. Or made 1 clone to enter sm, then he would've dominated Sasuke with frog kumite.

It's your fanfic that he had enough reserves to go SM. He was clearly very low on chakra. You need alot of chakra to balance it with the energy of nature.

Also, Rasengan can easily be absorbed via preta path.

Lastly, Naruto wouldn't have gotten the chance to stand still and absorb nature energy. You think Sasuke would wait while Naruto absorbed nature energy? Lol

Just imagine it like when a person/Bijuu runs out of chakra. They just need a bit of rest to replenish themselves.
