I would be okay with Shikamaru being the leader of Anbu.

Shik could do the job, calculated decisions verse slightly evil.

Sai might be a good choice having seen both sides of the deal, root and naruto's view.

I Think Yamato and Sai are better suited for this role . Shikamaru will be good advisor like Tobirama did ,he is like Tom Hagen in Godfather .

shikamaru is fitting to anbu captain and hokage, this guy is widely known by the whole hidden leaf and rest of the 5 great nations also he´s very respected amongs shinobi as he was the second in command in garaa´s division, he´s a hell of an strategist, he keeps his cool in every situation, this guy would make a great leader

I can't see Shikamaru taking evil decisions for the sake of the village. He would be better off as a strategist married to a female from Suna
