Plot twist: Sasuke destroyed Konoha on the way to the final battle. Konohomaru and his friends and the elders are all dead. I like that twist. It'd be a decent ending for Naruto and crew to get back and see Konoha absolutely wrecked, and figure out that Sasuke did die,but he was able to aim his final attack at the Go-kage and kill them all as well.
