Personally it makes no sense as to how Sasuke and Naruto can have "friendship". I would figure, Shikamaru or Gaara as Naruto's best friend as opposed to Sasuke. I have no idea who Sasuke can say the same to, Jugo/Suigetsu perhaps?

Kakashi and Sakura are friends, but they don't have the bond that Naruto and Sasuke share, whatever bond that is.

There's no reason for them to be friends. Sasuke was a tremendous douche to Naruto growing up. Naruto's friends are the K11, the rest of Konoha, Gaara, Bee, so on. Sasuke has no one by choice

When Sasuke stated in 694 that Naruto was the closest thing to a best friend he ever had it kind of surprised me. I would definitely call them rivals but I could not even call them friendly rivals like Guy and Kakashi. Guy and Kakashi are friends and rivals.

I can see how Naruto felt like he was a friend but not the other way around. Naruto has a lot of empathy so of course he felt drawn to Sasuke because they both lacked family and had no one to go home to after school and missions. Outside of the one time he got on Sakura's case for saying something rude about Naruto he never defended Naruto verbally to anyone else.

That time with Sakura did show he felt some empathy with Naruto, but most of the time it seemed to be on Naruto's part and not Sasuke's.
Personally, I felt most of the time Sasuke exhibited anger and jealousy of Naruto more than anything else. His jealousy of Naruto's power is what propelled him to seek out Orochimaru and leave Konoha. Instances during the manga when he became aware of Naruto's power he usually clenches his fist and looks angry. It even happens during the war a couple of times.

Thank you for providing the facts.

Naruto's bond has always been out in the open for everyone to see and hear.

Sasuke's thoughts are always hidden from the reader, but his actions have shown on several occasions that the the bond is not one-sided.
It's subtle, but it's there.
