Its the same as when Madara absorbed the Juubi, and when Kaguya absorbed chakra. I always thought it was preta or maybe they all just have the ability to absorb chakra.

I don't think you can judge sasuke paths usage based on any other rinnegan user. Every other rinnegan user who used chibaku tensei needed to make a gravitional orb while sasuke turns his opponent into the core. Sasuke most likely can use the paths on a whole new lvl.
