He used the Edo Hokage versus Gaara dad because when 4th Kazekage was revived he revealed to the other Kage that Orochimaru could use Edo Tensei so that's most likely what Oro used to kill him so yeah.

In the manga/anime there is nothing shown about the battle but it wasn,t difficult given orochimaru didnt even remember(felt great) about this. however it was never as difficult as fighting Hiruzen. Kazekage was a fodder beyond any.
