That statement serves only to show that Naruto wants to stop Sasuke without killing him, for obvious reasons.

It doesn't offer any insight towards who is stronger (or, in other words, if Naruto has the capacity to do so).

There's no way that the victor of a matchup on this kind of level can be deduced from a mere sentence.

Tell me this what would this rivalry be if its all one sided? Why are we reading if its all one sided? In the end of the day no matter who out of these two looks stronger. When they fight, they fight as equals. Other wise it is not a rivalry its a joke.

the thing is, their rivalry has been one-sided a lot of times in the manga. Sasuke would have stomped naruto at the beginning of part 2, Naruto would have stomped Sasuke when he got BM/BSM.

If their real fight is in the final naruto movie, then all these ʻthey are equals when they have their final fightʻ arguments are off since this fight would not really be their final fight.

We don't know about the final movie. So I can't really comment on it. All I know is that I will hold my judgement of there strength till the fight is over. I did the same with Kaguya fight, before I considered it a failure. So we will see if Naruto is indeed a lot stronger than Sasuke.

I think it is pretty clear what naruto is saying. He does not want to kill sasuke. People read way too into the story sometimes just see what they want to see.

I don't think that either is particularly stronger then the other. Their skill sets are very different and they can counter each other in various ways.
