Tell me this what would this rivalry be if its all one sided? Why are we reading if its all one sided? In the end of the day no matter who out of these two looks stronger. When they fight, they fight as equals. Other wise it is not a rivalry its a joke.

9 times out of 10 the good guy is not stronger than the FV, just more cunning or has a power advantage based on elements, or wins by chance or desperation. Naruto could be the 1% that is stronger, but since they are meant to be seen as equals, I would say Naruto is attempting to give his all, and strike no matter what in order to stop Sasuke, stronger or not.

That statement serves only to show that Naruto wants to stop Sasuke without killing him, for obvious reasons.

It doesn't offer any insight towards who is stronger (or, in other words, if Naruto has the capacity to do so).

There's no way that the victor of a matchup on this kind of level can be deduced from a mere sentence.

Obito stated that Madara's entire reason for fighting was to gain Hashirama's DNA to awaken the Rinnegan. That paired with the prepped Izanagi designed to activated long after death and long after he would not be suspected of living once more, it's definitively a possible conclusion to come to.

You don't prep izanagi for a fight you plan to win, and you especially don't plan an izanagi to activate days or even weeks after the end of a battle when you could gain the upper hand by using it immediately.
