Why does Itachi take sole responsibility over the massacre but not Obito?

Good piont.I made my prevoius post thinking that you weren't thinking of how bad the Uchiha were treated and only faulted them for attempting the coup. But good explanation.

No, I know that they were segregated and the suspicion definitely was unfair. I don't think that they're bad lol. xD

All I know was that there is a person who keeps repeating that over and over again.

You're assuming, nothing insinuated he could take them down alone at the time, and the manga clearly drew the line at such. Uchiha weren't fodders, and Itachi would have ran out of stamina and overused his MS doing it alone eventually, and wound up dead or seriously injured. Which is why he caught Obito snooping around the Village, and enlisted his assistance for exchange of his services in the akatsuki, but Itachi not knowing, Obtio already knew what his true motive for joining the Akatsuki was actually for. He did delay Naruto being captured, but still helped in the capture of Roshi and other jins, but he made up for it by bringing down Kabuto.

@red- no I'm not. Otherwise the elders and Hiruzen wouldn't believe he could pull it off in one night. Danzo specifically came to him and told him that only he would be able to eliminate them alone prior to the coup starting. That confirms it. If Itachi didn't do it, they'd just have a civil war and it would be a group effort on the village shinobi's behalf.

@orange- Stamina? His stamina only runs out when using MS techs. He only had one MS tech back then, Tsukiyomi. He only used that on Sasuke so that he'd hate him and he could be a scapegoat. No one said that the Uchiha were fodders. However, Itachi is someone who was Anbu captain (so he's skilled in surprise and stealth assassination), grew up with them (knows their techs), and in part one he was hyped to be the most talented of that generation. Plus, it's at night. A time when it's completely unexpected and nearly all of them are sleeping. This is also the same kid who didn't even get a drop of blood on his clothing as he did this. He just needed his katana and perhaps 3-tomoe genjutsu at the max. There most likely weren't even any skirmishes bar a few minor ones. In the manga, we get a few panels of him killing adults, most are so surprised with it happening so fast that they didn't even know what hit them and didn't have time to react.

@pink- Obito himself just states that Itachi went to him to have a reason to join, he was bribing Obito. It was just a deal that allowed Obito to get sharingans and Itachi to finish quicker as well as join Akatsuki. There's not much else to it there.

@green- He was just assigned Naruto. He didn't help in any capture, in fact he didn't bother helping Kisame capture Roshi. He did help in sealing, though. But then again, any nukenin would do that and if he didn't they just find someone else. That other nukenin would be assigned to capture Naruto and would actually be for Akatsuki. If Itachi hadn't joined, this series would have taken a turn for the worst earlier.

Because Obito was outside help and just went along with Itachi's mission which was to kill the Uchiha.

The approval of The Elders really mean little to nothing concerning this, they were just as confident in Shisui, and Hiruzen questioned then if it would be successful to KA them, but he let Shisui go along with it because of how passionate he was about stopping the coup.

Ok, so most of the screams from the people he murdered alerted most of the sector of a presence, and taijutsu along with sharingan depletes stamina, and who is to say Itachi didn't use tsukiyomi on a couple Uchihas? He clearly activated it before he started the mission. The police force alone was a mighty division that scanned throughtout the night. While Itachi is murdering people inside homes, what was to stop the whole Police sector from arriving to maim him? Yeah, Obito.

If Obito weren't snooping around the village, Itachi might not have even proposed slaughtering the Uchiha on his own, it wasn't elaborately planned, it was more of a kill two birds with one stone thing.

The captured of Roshi could've been stopped on his part, but he didn't bother too, it really wouldn't have made much of a difference at that point seeing as Obito knew he was a spy. It was never clear what information he gathered from being in the akatsuki or If he ever leaked any to the leaf. All we see is he helped the akatsuki further its goal, than actually hinder it, which inadvertly he realized facing Kabuto.

history remembers the party who performed the deed. All that aside, Itachi placed sole responsibility of the act on himself and said "Madara" only acted as a co-conspirator and mentor.

Itachi did not "boast about it." I think you should catch up a little. Seems like at some point you started read an Obito Shippuden fanfic rather than the manga.

I know that "traitors" most often times has a negative connotation, but it doesn't have to here.

The Uchiha are traitors to Konoha no matter how you look at it. They had their reasons for the coup, I get that.

Just as Obito and Itachi are traitors to the Uchiha clan and their is no sugar-coating that.

It just depends on one's own perspective on who's betrayal was "worth it".

Your right but... I think Naruto x Hunter knew that and was trying to point out the extreme negativity pointed towards Obito and Itachi from you.
