I was just reading the Invasion of Pain Arc volumes (45-48) and, I'm beginning to see something. I don't think Naruto would've been wrong to kill Pain. As Pain said, that would be his justice, sure, it's what Pain would've likely done too, but, they never exactly say Naruto was wrong for wanting to get revenge. I think, the main message was that, not only would it ultimately accomplish nothing, it'd just prove Nagato right anyway. Honestly, if Naruto just went and killed Nagato in vengeance, he would just get personal satisfaction, he wouldn't gain anything constructive, and, as Nagato said, that would be justice, pretty much proving his point. I think another major point of contention is that, unlike Sasuke, or even Team Asuma, vengeance truly isn't a part of Naruto's character, it's just not who he is. Sure, like everyone, he may get angry and feel vengeful, but, revenge just isn't his style, it's not who Naruto is, not someone so forgiving, not at his core.

I see the issue is kind of like Aang refusing to kill Ozai, sure, some would say that's the right way, but is it really, and, more so, is it the only way?

So, I don't think the message was that Naruto was wrong for wanting revenge, or that getting revenge would be evil,I think, the point was, it would accomplish nothing, it would just prove Nagato right, and Naruto wouldn't get anything but pleasure from it.

Just some food for thought.

No because the very next part of naruto was him losing his hatred and controlling the kyuubi that would have gone against that next lesson

Nagato would of shot Multiple Chakra Rods and captured him.
TBH, Pain could've captured Naruto if it weren't for plot.

And if Nagato didn't use his Outer Path, Kakashi would of been dead and Konoha would of been destroyed.[SUB]

The thing is, it's shown that Naruto easily shrugged off the first rod stabbing him directly in the stomach, he likely could've killed the already weakened Nagato if he wanted to.

Wait, what, I don't understand.

thread was solo'd what's not to understand?

Haha seriously though. The next part of the story was about Naruto losing his hatred. If he killed Nagato that would have been a step in the opposite direction of that. Therefore, Kishi would've never written that

Of course it was, I'm just saying, he never says that killing Nagato wouldn't be justice.

Naruto was still stunned by the attack, but by using the help of the Kyuubi chakra, he resisted it.
Nagato could of shot more at Naruto to restrain his movements.[SUB]

I think the better way to phrase it is "Nagato would be right if naruto killed him" Nagato's ideology was that this cycle of hate would continue even after you killed someone. So if Naruto were to kill Nagato, he would have been just like the rest of them within that cycle. It wouldn't avenge anyone but just keep the circle going.

Then what? Konoha remains heavily weakened, Kakashi and other high jounin remain dead and that leaves Konoha to shit. Plus Nagato was gonna die like ten minutes later.

I'm not saying killing Nagato would be the right choice, I'm saying, it's not portrayed as evil either.

Oh, okay then. I agree and disagree mainly because everyone would remain dead, but yeah that wouldn't really be evil though it would mess with Naruto's mentality with controling Kurama later.

Was that really not the first thing that you gathered from the fight?
