I have had this theory for a while now, and I think it's time to get the community's thoughts.

We all know how much kishimoto loves plot twists. Right now in the manga, we're at the final valley where naruto and sasuke will fight for the last time.

Naruto is going to win. Right? He is the main character after all. It makes sense that the main character beats the villain and everyone lives happily ever after.

Wrong.

Kishimoto isn't going to have his manga/anime of the decade end on that note. Kishi likes making an impact, setting the mood, doing something nobody has really done before.

Here is my theory. Sasuke will kill naruto. Yes, naruto. The name of the anime. Somewhere along naruto's last words, will be very dramatic, impactful, and will change sasuke. Naruto, the name, will become a memoir.

I think kishimoto's goal was not to tell a story of a boy that wants to become president (hokage),
it was to show how one person can change the world. Naruto. Kishimoto will make us, as human beings, want to be caring and know that we can make a difference as an individual, and as a whole. This one boy, teenager, ninja. Will change the world, and he doesn't have to be alive to do it.

Whatever the end result is, the ninja world and all it's hate, will be nonexistent.

I can see the final chapter, the ninja destroying there weapons, sasuke starting a family(finding love), everybody singing around a statue, of the person who changed everything.

Naruto.

Thank you for reading. Let me know what you think in the comments, I'm very interested to hear what you all have to say. Honestly I feel this would be the most impactful ending to the greatest anime of all time.

I beg to disagree, with your thread, and a lot of your answers through the thread.

I'll start by the answer that bugged me, but instead of quoting, I'll go straight to my answer

- Movie is based in the manga, not in anime. The only way for you to prove otherwise, would be being able to pull a connection between a filler (the only difference between anime and manga are the 'fillers') and the movies. If you can't find any relationship, then the Movie is based purely on manga.

Now, the important thing: The thread.

I highly doubt Naruto dying in the end of manga. A lot of reasons, of course...

a) It's a shounen manga. Main hero doesn't die tragically in the end.

b) Sasuke's answer has a fatal flaw: It failed before (Kaguya's path/Itachi's path), meaning that Sasuke winning the match would necessarily mean unsolved riddles (how to efficiently lend the revolution effects to last forever).

c) Your theory implies Sasuke drastically changing his view of peace. He seeks darkness. If Sasuke kills Naruto before even talking about the unsolved riddles, the light and the darkness, the last tie that makes Sasuke 'human' will be severed, thus rendering useless any other emotion in his heart. This was told in the last chapter.

Kishi is writing the last movie, which makes it canon. Unless Kishi does not write the manga, in which case I'd like to know. Also, everybody knows that Naruto lost on purpose in the original VOtE fight. He went for the headband instead of the chest.

Why are the Losers wanting Naruto to die in His own Manga? Don't you get it? Sasuke is a Loser and Naruto is a winner.
Naruto is such a winner, he got soloed by Sasuke 5 times. Lol there's your winner. Anyways, neither of them die, as they both are in the movie, which is said to be canon, so a pretty lame thread with a pretty bittersweet theory.

Such bold statement, very intriguing... so winners are only defined by brute force? I see where your reasoning is coming from. Much logic...

Wow.
