This new anime took me by surprise. First it looked like another ordinary slice of life harem anime, but from what I have seen from the 1st episode its going to be nothing like that(well except the harem, maybe) and there seems to be a dark tone hidden under the initial atmosphere. I recommend checking it out and seeing for yourself.

Oh idk if I'll check out the VN then, but I'm going to keep watching the anime regardless because the MC is awesome and he also appears to be a military badass. He reminds me of Tatsuya a lot.

I played the VN before the anime came out so I knew from the start this isn't another typical harem. This and Fate/Stay Night are definitely my favorites of this season. Also, it is dark. Just takes a while to get to the dark point, but the anime is implying it from the very start, it seems.​

Aside from Yuuji, nope, you're not really on the right path, lol. Although, the series is pretty dark. There are things like cannibalism, rape, etc. I won't spoil anything though.​

Lol really? The ending had me thinking otherwise because I saw one girl making bombs and another carries that knife around with her. If not then my next guess is that those girls are put in that school because they have done some effed up stuff in the past. If I am on the right track just +rep or something so you don't spoil anything.
