Naruto rocks and debrie

How come in the anime, sometimes when the ground breaks, or when rocks break off a cliff or something, they always break in squares? Seemingly prefect squares that look like they were part of a puzzle more than part of the actual environment.

When? Most notable in the Naruto vs pain fight. Naruto VS Sasuke episode, Kakashi and team 10 VS Kakuzu and Hidan Also in the new opening when Madara crashes through a rock and a bunch of blocks come flying out of it. Like, animators..what they on? Have they never seen breaking rocks before?
