Really because itachi didn't need that. Their is nothing that says you have to look eye to eye to be put under a genjutsu.

Wrong again everyone who fought itachi was cought in his genjustu from looking in his eye's. Sasuke vs itachi, kakashi vs itachi, the clay bomb dude vs itachi, naruto vs itachi they all looked into his eye's during every one of those fights and where instantly caught in his genjustu. Look it up.

Edit: I also said only uchihas used their eyes to place opponent's under genjustu. Other fighter used other tactics.

It was exactly eye contact. When they where talking naruto was looking him directly in his eye's before the started combat. Then itachi released his genjustu before naruto could attack thus leaving kakashi to release naruto from the genjustu leading them to defeat the fake itachi.
