Sasori asks what naruto looks like and itachi hesitates. Then pain says you will tell him now. Am I grasping at straws or is pain being so commanding because this has happened before? His reluctance to help I mean

I think it was what Itachi and Obito agreed on when Obito offered him to join akutsuki before the massacre, it was never shown in manga but seems highly plausible since he also got him to leave Sasuke alone, not to mention killing all uchiha wasn't exactly useless for Obito so it wouldn't be a surprise if he agreed on it.

More like Itachi and Obito had an idea about what the other one could do and didn't try to test their limits with each other.

For despite seeing each other as a danger to their personal goal, neither tried to take the other one out. Probably both guessed that the other one was hiding full extent of their capabilities from him. (Obito confirmed it that he was able to hide somethings from Itachi. )

Then each of them could ruin the plan of other to an extent, without fighting too. Obito could tell rest of the Akatsuki that Itachi was a spy. But Itachi too had figured out more about Obito's plan than Nagato. Nagato didn't completely trust Obito but he knew less about him than Itachi. So Itachi could leak more info about Tobi and his plans to others. I doubt if Akatsuki memebrs knew about moon eye plan they would cooperate. They would end up the same as rest of the shinobies.

He never did got murdered and Nagato was the solo king and he didn't give orders to himself lol a reason why it took Kage ninjas just to fight a controlled Nagato who didn't want to fight and had low mobility.

Because why would Akatsuki keep him around if he did nothing, the whole reason a spy is a spy is by doing what they have to while undercover. He still helped Akatsuki which not only put Konoha in danger but the shinobi world.

I guess Pein used Deva path to repel that curse back on Itachi who died from Susanoo. Naruto had to fight Pein after he already fought a bunch or people and used a ton of chakra in almighty push that took Deva path out the fight for most of the fight. Nagato was solo king for a reason.
