Well Itachi could've sided with Uchiha and end Danzo along with the elders including Hokage. Only reason he didn't because he was loyal to the village and did what he did with his own free will. I mean there are many Itachi fapboys that are annoying but you haters are no different.

Uchiha had no problem with the village, their problem were the people running the village. And also, Itachi could've been the mediator. Uchiha were konoha citizens.. so its not just an Uchiha problem.. its a KONOHA problem.

And as 3rd said they left everything on Itachi's shoulders. He did what was necessary on his own, not just because it was order.
