What the fu** did Itachi actually do to protect the Leaf and be called Hokage?

1. Put Kakashi in a goddamn coma only Tsunade can fix.

2. Tried to kidnap Naruto and only backed off when Jiraiya intervened.

Why didn't he let Jiraiya kill Kisame and why didn't he ever kill one of Akatsuki's himself? He's skilled, he could've easily made it look like Konoha got him.

3. Let Deidara nearly kill Sasuke- Deidara only failed because he got angry and blew up.

4. Tried to mindf*** Kakashi again in part 2 and failed.


So what exactly did Itachi do for Konoha, because so far all I see is bad stuff.

Regarding 1,2 and 4: Itachi had Kakashi's life in his hand those times but he chooses not to kill him because his just pretending to be the bad guy. in fact, If he wanted to, he could have just killed Kakashi that time... Regarding their attempt to kidnap Naruto, perhaps it was just an excuse to visit Konoha and fuel Sasuke's hatred.

regarding #3: He knows Sasuke is smart enough and his array of electric-type attacks is an advantage against Deidara's.

He did more for the village then other kages. (Hiruzen, Minato [indirectly caused kyubi attack]) Saved the village by doing what a certain hokage was scared to do, then endured the pain of killing his clan and abandoning someone he loved.

Still cant see an uchiha as a hokage though. Being on the verge f extinction and everything.

Indirectly told Konoha what Akatsuki wanted during his invasion

He prevented a civil war within Konoha, even though he could have said no.
