I love a little controversial talk. This one should be pretty good, but please keep it civil. If not, there will be reports and negs.

Firstly, do you believe sexism is still a thing in this world? If so, are people usually more sexist against men or women?

In my experiences as a person, I have seen a lot of women abuse "sexism" per say. Back when I was in highschool, there were some fights. Usually just guy vs guy or girl vs girl, but there was one fight I remember that didn't really seem right. This girl walks up to this guy, who is sitting down and eating his lunch, and starts insulting him. After exchanging insults, the girl slaps the guy in the head and punches him a couple times. The guy then got up, pushed away her friends, and punched this girl right in the jaw and later we found out he gave her a couple hairline fractures in her jaw. The girl got in no trouble with the school whatsoever, and the guy was expelled for two weeks with a month of ISS for fighting. If you were the principal, would you have done something different? I mean the girl started the fight. Is she allowed to hit him then play "I'm a girl so you can't hit me" card? I don't condone hitting women at all, but I also don't condone women hitting men.

Another recent dilemma is the Ray Rice controversy. To sum it up, Janay Rice spat on her soon to be husband and hit him, with Ray Rice punching her back and knocking her off her feet. As she fell, she hit a railing and got knocked out. Instead of Janay getting in any legal trouble, Ray Rice is indefinitely banned from the NFL and had to pay a pretty huge fine. Upwards of a couple hundred thousand dollars. If you were the commissioner would you have done something else?

Just wanted a little discussion.

Girls can easily get away with stuff. While boys get the blame. Well we beat them in the long term because it has been proven that men get 10%-50% more money than girls.

Those are just my experiences. I am sure women get abused with sexism as well. I may just be oblivious to it, or it hasn't happened to where I could actually see it.

I think it's still around, I just don't think it's around in the way people make it seem.

Tbh, there is always this argument that men get hired more than women... But most of the time I see an overwhelming amount of female workers at my dentist, doctor's office, DEFINITELY my school (So far we only have 9th, 10th, and 11th grade but there are about 5 male teachers and 16 female workers).

There is defending yourself and then there is just going overboard. Just remember that.

I believe in equality , not that BS . In your first story no matter what their personals problems might have been , I would have punish both of them but the female was at fault for starting shit up. Believing someone will not hit you just because of your gender , race , handicap or whatever is ridiculous IMO.

I scared my bullies by smiling at them , they were girls who hated nerds. They were genuine freaked out though and left me alone. I'm all for equality though, women deserve the same as men and vise versa

Sexism exists in every part of the world. Some more than most.

But in more developed countries like the U.S. we are seeing cases of reverse sexism which is just as bad.

Here is a video of one such occasion(the video is performed by actors, but it's in public to prove a point). A man yells at a woman and everyone tells him to back down, but when the woman hits him, they laugh. But if he hits back, then there would be a lawsuit.

look at it like this, The girl that was annoying that kid and slapping him got several hits off of him and he got up and one hit KO'd her. Not trying to be sexist but in general men are indefinitely stronger than women. Yes i know there are a select women out there who are strong and could kick some ass but for the most part a weak man is still more powerful and dangerous than a strong woman. With that power there comes some responsibility. You shouldn't hit a woman regardless of what she's doing to you, now I'm no tattle tale but that is one situation where you go straight to a higher up and express your concern. There should be a law about women hitting men and it should be slightly worse than assault so that it will deter women from abusing their small stature and expecting to get away with anything short of murder. I think that would really level the playing field. And yes sexism is still alive and well today. Pew research center did a study and found that women get paid on average 84% of what men get paid. There is a law going into vote to close this gap but there are still many other things that need to be taken into consideration.

oh and sexism is on both sides of the fence. Women are allowed paid time off for birth and the first month of having the child whereas men are not granted such abilities. In china men apse get paternal leave. They need to incorporate that into the us to close the discrimination gap

There was a prank video made about this. They made an experiment to see what public will do if a man hits a woman or a woman hits man.

Man hits a woman - Everyone interfered.
Woman hits a man - No one interfered.

I would've punished both parties in the instance there was a fight. The girl for starting the fight, the boy for hitting back. No ulterior reasons pertaining to gender or anything of the like, its simple, fighting isn't allowed. As for whether or not sexism is still a thing, I would say it is.

Imagine someone getting hit by a girl while others were watching and so he told a teacher. I'm pretty sure that kid would have been considered a joke if he did that. If he hit her, he would have been viewed negatively as well. Not much to do in that situation.
